Jan Blachowicz defeated Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC 259 at the UFC Apex. Superstars across the UFC roster kept a close eye on the event, as it was one of the most stacked cards ever put together in the promotion’s history. One such superstar was Adesanya’s previous opponent, Paulo Costa.

The Brazilian took a dig at Izzy as the latter lost by unanimous decision. Despite an early striking clinic, the power and strength of Blachowicz proved to be too much for ‘The Last Stylebender’. The Polish champion showed his superior grappling accolades in the championship round. It ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in the outcome.

‘Borrachinha’ tweeted, “Adesanya were you drunk too?”

It’s easy to guess that it was a troll from the middleweight contender which is from the prolonged aftermath of their UFC 253 bout. On that PPV, the Brazilian just couldn’t keep up with the wizardry of Adesanya’s striking. He looked bamboozled and was lost by the start of round 2. ‘Borrachinha’ later claimed that he was drunk the night before his fight against the champion.

It was a bizarre excuse on Costa’s part, as very few would decide to get drunk before the biggest fight of their career.

However, ‘The Eraser’ did it. And now, after Adesanya’s loss, he mocked the middleweight champion suggesting ‘Stylebender’ followed his footsteps before the fight.

Is Paulo Costa vs Israel Adesanya 2 a possibility in the future?

Right after his loss against Adesanya at UFC 253, Costa wanted an immediate rematch. But, he did not get it as he looked levels below Adesanya in terms of skill.

However, ‘Borrachinha’ remains one of the top middleweights on the planet and he will look to prove a point when he fights former champion, Robert Whittaker, next month.

If the Brazilian can rack some more impressive wins under his belt, the possibility of him standing across the Octagon from ‘Stylebender‘ is very realistic. Also, given the entertaining build-up of their UFC 253 fight, the company wouldn’t mind putting that bout together yet again.
