Conor McGregor defies driving ban with his Bentley—Is he above the law or just being reckless?

Conor McGregor has yet again struck the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Keeping an incident from 2022 in focus, the court suspended the Irish mixed martial artist’s diving license for 5 months. On top of the suspension, the ‘Mystic Mac’ was fined $5,000 and a 2-year road ban was put on him starting on the 31st of July, 2024. If you have guessed it already, you sure follow ‘The Notorious’ pretty closely.

Back in March 2022, the UFC star was arrested and his car was seized by the police after he was caught running a red light and speeding through the traffic. Needless to say, the chances of colliding with another automobile were pretty high. He pleaded guilty to one charge of dangerous driving and one charge of careless driving. However, he narrowly escaped jail time on the condition that he keep the peace for the time of his suspension.

At Blanchardstown District Court on Wednesday, Judge David McHugh said: “This is an appalling series of breaches of the road traffic rules and an appalling episode of dangerous driving.” Apparently, McGregor said, “Are you taking the pi**?” to the garda who drove at nearly 100 mph to catch up to McGregor’s Bentley Continental GT.

Surprisingly, the aforementioned charges weren’t the only charges put against the mixed martial artist. He was also alleged to be driving without a license and insurance. But when he produced the necessary documents at the court, the charges were withdrawn.

But McGregor isn’t someone who stays quiet for long. Right after the verdict was passed, ‘The Notorious’ took to Instagram and shared a few visuals with his fans. In a couple of pictures, he donned a blue suit and rode shotgun. In a few others, he was enjoying a hearty meal and drinks with his family and friends. But on the IG story, he quoted, “Man I’ve been fighting my whole life it’s worked out but-” followed by a laughing emoji.

Without a doubt, the entire fighting community traveled to the comments section as soon as the Irishman pressed the share button. Let’s see what the fans had to say.

Fight fans joke about Conor McGregor’s suspension and ban

Some of the fans pointed out that the ban would seriously hurt with a collection as luxurious and elite as that of McGregor’s. With a garage packed with Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Bentley, and many more, one would indeed get the urge to put their hands on the steering wheel. However, McGregor simply couldn’t do so for a couple of years. “2 year driving ban HURTS when you got the whip selection of the Mac,” wrote a fan.

A few other fans took note of the first thing that McGregor did after the hearing. He stuck into his Bentley and rode back home, calling shotgun. ‘Bro got his license suspended for 2 years then flicks up otw home,” a fan commented.

In the post, every single picture and video depicted the ‘Mystic Mac’ as a different person. And this was keenly observed by the fighting community. One fan wrote, “This guy is a different person every post he does.”

But the fight fans didn’t back away from making sarcastic comments about the Irishman’s suspension. One fan wrote, “You can’t drive hahaha” On the other hand, one of the fans claimed that McGregor was right on the verge of dismissing the court orders, as one of the posts showed him flaunting his watch, with his hand on the wheel. The comment read, “Courts: You can’t drive; McGregor: I don’t give a FO*K.”
