Conor McGregor has been facing quite a bit of backlash because of his recent legal troubles. Ever since the jury found him liable to pay more than $250 thousand Nikita Hand in damages, the ‘Mystic Mac’ has lost a significant amount of money. On top of that, brands have taken a step back from supporting the former UFC double champion, and his products have been removed from the aisles in the biggest supermarkets in Ireland. But that didn’t stop ‘The Notorious’ from letting his staff party. He has presented the staff at his beloved Black Forge Inn with a cash injection for Christmas.
Liam Fynn, the manager of the Black Forge Inn, shared a video of him partying with McGregor on social media. He quoted, “As ya said boss drinks all round 20k. From everyone thanks champ.” However, as per the Irish Mirror, Dublin West councilor Ruth Coppinger stood against the act and called on the people to boycott McGregor’s products and premises.
After about a month of finding himself liable in the civil case, McGregor provided the world with a piece of advice. He urged the netizens to record everything that happens to them and quoted, “After this accusation happened to me, and the lies that followed about me attempting to settle this, another allegation came shortly after. Only for CCTV to capture exactly that moment—had it not, I would be in jail right now.” With major deals falling apart from McGregor’s control, one of the few ways he could gain the goodwill of people back was keeping his staff happy. And the Christmas party was one such attempt.

Soon after Fynn shared the visuals on social media, the Irish Mirror took to Instagram and posted a picture of the manager partying with the Irish fighter. The caption of the post read, “Conor McGregor puts €20,000 ($20,883.40) behind the bar for staff Christmas party.” As soon as the post hit the threshold of Instagram, the netizens swooped into the comments section to express their feelings. Let’s see what they had to say.

One of the fans claimed that the generous move was just to make himself feel better. The comment read, “trying to ease his guilt of what he has done.” Of course, it was a jibe at the ‘Mystic Mac’s legal troubles with Hand. Another fan joined in and wrote, “He thinks that will make people forget what nasty vile thing he did to that woman . N9 morals mcgregor has no shame.” For a few of the fans, the verdict of the jury was crystal clear, and no amount of generosity could make up for his past. A fan commented, “no amount of money will ever erase what he did.”
The hatred for Conor McGregor in the comments section was pretty prominent. One fan commented, “Putting money back into his pockets lol [laughing emoji] not end to this trash man.” Meanwhile, another fan revealed the extent he’d go to, instead of drinking at the Irishman’s party. The comment read, “I’d die of thirst rather than take a drink of it.”
Some of the fans pointed at the families who have been struggling to make ends meet. It did feel like the comment suggested McGregor to make donations to the needy instead. The comment read, “Too much money it’s a sin ! A lot of family’s are feeling the crunch this year.” However, there were still some fans who stood in support of ‘The Notorious’. One of them replied, “It’s his money…he can do whatever he wants..and I’m sure the staff will appreciate it.”
