Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a rare appearance, along with US president-elect Donald Trump, at UFC 309 in Madison Square Garden. Although he wasn’t featured on the card, middleweight contender Caio Borralho was also present there in the arena and had a wholesome moment with the 53-year-old billionaire. ‘The Natural’ happened to present Musk with a gift, which he claims to have been a “crazy” experience, but he wasn’t the only person he wanted to present a gift to.

For the unversed, ‘Fighting Nerds’ is the name of Caio Borralho’s team, which includes UFC stars like Carlos Prates, Thiago Moses, and Mauricio Ruffy, to name a few. The middleweight star was there to corner one of his teammates when he noticed Elon Musk sitting near the Octagon beside Dana White and Donald Trump. So what did he decide to do? Before approaching Musk, he wanted to approach the president-elect. However, the 31-year-old did not want anything to do with Trump’s security, which was the Secret Service.

“I was going to give to [Donald] Trump, too, but I was like, maybe if I go down to talk to Trump, his Secret Service is gonna be like, ‘What the f*** are you talking to him?’ And all this stuff, and I was like, ‘No. I’m gonna go up just with Elon'”, Caio Borralho stated on the ‘Overdogs Podcast.’

But things were much different when Caio Borralho turned to Elon Musk. Borralho gifted the billionaire a pair of ‘Fighting Nerds’ glasses, which Musk happily wore while enjoying the pay-per-view.

Maybe not Donald Trump, but Elon Musk accepted Caio Borralho’s gift

Donald Trump has been attending many UFC PPVs and is almost a regular at these events, having hosted two events back in 2001. But that’s not the same for Elon Musk, who made one other appearance at a UFC event before UFC 309. Also, Caio Borralho and other fighters don’t always get the chance to interact with these big personalities at UFC events. So when he did get to interact with the Tesla CEO, he claimed it was worth it.

“That was crazy, right? Because Elon is like the biggest nerd in the earth,” Caio Borralho added. “It was Mauricio Ruffy’s fight, and I was [there] as a corner. And then, I knew that Elon Musk was gonna be there, and I was seeing him outside the Octagon.”, he said before continuing, “I was like, ‘I’m gonna give this guy the glasses,’ because if he puts on the glass, it’s gonna be another level.”

Elon Musk has previously shown interest in MMA, and we might get to see him attend more UFC events in the future. Maybe the Tesla CEO could find himself witnessing Caio Borralho in action when he attends his next UFC event.
