UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is currently preparing for his UFC 268 fight against Colby Covington. The duo will engage in a rematch having previously clashed at UFC 245 in what has been considered by fans as one of the best title fights of all time. However, there has been some major bad blood between the duo before and even after the contest.
Recently, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ sat down for an interview with Helen Yee. Usman made a surprise revelation about his opponent. While it’s clear that the Nigerian fighter is not a fan of Covington as a person, he applauds the skills that ‘Chaos’ possesses. Usman believes Covington is one of the best welterweights of all time.

“He’s definitely up there. I’m no hater. I give props where props is due. I think probably Colby is, I would put him in the top 15 welterweights of all time. As far fighter wise and skill wise and the way that he fights. You might not like him personally which I really don’t, but as far as skill wise, I know he’s a good fighter, very very good fighter,” said Usman.
Covington is a decisive personality among the UFC faithful. His character might fool many into downplaying his abilities inside the Octagon. But, that’s not at all the case as ‘Chaos’ is in fact one of the top fighters in the division and has an incredible record. So, Usman might just be right here in his assessment.

Usman vs Covington 1 was an instant classic. And one can expect the same sort of back-and-forth contest in November as well. Covington especially will be determined to level the score against Usman. Also, the chance of becoming the undisputed champion of the division for the first time will be added motivation for him.
Both fighters have certainly evolved from their previous meeting. While Usman has been very active since then, Covington has fought only once. So, it will be an intriguing spectacle for the fans to see how the second part of one of the biggest rivalries in the promotion’s history plays out.
