UFC has recently come up with a new memo where they have put a stop to fighters from gambling on the events. The organization has announced an update in its code of conduct policy wherein fighters are not allowed to place their wager inside the octagon.
Moreover, the memo also mentions that neither a family member nor a coach can bet on their fighters.

Nevertheless, over the years, a number of UFC fighters have come out expressing their interest in gambling in sports. Furthermore, recently retired UFC welterweight, James Krause revealed that he’d made more money gambling on fights than anything else.
UFC just issued this memo to fighters and managers regarding a change in their athlete conduct policy:

Meanwhile, famous MMA journalist Ariel Helwani broke the news on his Twitter, and prominent fighters came up and re-shared the tweet. Furthermore, they even shared their thoughts on the newly introduced rules.

Fans showed complete dissent to the new reforms introduced by the company. It even included a few prominent names.

Meanwhile, featherweight Chris Wade and former middleweight champion Chris Weidman chimed in the comment section to reveal that these gambling sites did not even allow them to log in.

Is there any leverage for the fighters?
These new reforms certainly prevent fighters from betting wagers on an event. Furthermore, even restricts the fighter’s coach and family members from doing so.
However, they have allowed the fighters to get sponsored by these betting sites. Whoever they sponsor won’t have to part ways with the respective brands. Thus, the policy is only restricted to betting and not sponsorship.
