Tom Aspinall has his sights set on a career-defining opportunity: a fight against the consensus MMA GOAT, Jon Jones to unify the heavyweight crown. The Englishman has been vocal about this for a long time now but ‘Bones’ has constantly shut down any possibility of the generational clash.
Apart from this, Aspinall added that he had only watched Jones’s career unfolding on a television screen and that his attending the UFC 309 PPV was the first time that he got to witness ‘Bones’ performing live. The Brit had some cheeky observations and now former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen has come forward with an analysis of his own. Let’s see what ‘The Bad Guy’ has to say.

UFC 309 delivered a historic main event as Jon Jones retained his heavyweight title with a decisive victory over Stipe Miocic. With his latest performance. The 37-year-old even pointed out that he is not considering retirement at the moment and has few fights left in his gas tank. Meanwhile, Tom Aspinall was also present to witness the fight and this was the first time the 31-year-old saw, ‘Bones’ live in action. With Jones not retiring, the Brit might just be next in line for a title fight.
Aspinall has time and again claimed that he is the best heavyweight in the world and his live outing only made him more confident about the prospect of dethroning the champ. The interim king stated that he noticed areas of Jones’ fighting style that he could easily exploit but refused to dive into the specifics.
Taking notice of the Englishman’s claims, UFC legend Chael Sonnen while speaking to ‘Submission Radio’ shared his opinion on the whole. Sonnen said, “He says he can. He said I’ve never watched Jon Jones except on television before. Being ringside he said he’s too slow. He said I could see everything that he was doing. Now Tom also told us he has just had a couple of beers and I got it but it’s relevant, right? As funny as it might sound it is relevant. If that is true if Tom thinks he is faster than a 236-pound world champion it makes me wanna see it.”
