Recently, it was the former interim UFC Lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, who came up with an interesting post. He published a video of himself punching Justin Gaethje during their bout. At UFC 249, Ferguson lost to the American fighter in their duel. He remembers the best exchanges from the fight and his post proves the same.

‘El Cucuy’ asked a question as the post’s caption, “Hmm..Wonder If I could?” Additionally, he used the Japanese word ‘shoryuken’, which translates to ‘rising dragon fist’. The fighter is in his Friday feels where he recollects his fight with Gaethje and his classic punch.

The fans speculate that the post could also be an answer surrounding a future fight between Rafael Fiziev and Ferguson. He recently won against the former champion, Rafael dos Anjos, via TKO in the fifth round. Fiziev is awaiting his next opponent after earning the finest victory of his career.

The match for the UFC Lightweight champion title was decided by the UFC first, where Khabib Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were set to face each other. However, due to concerns about the pandemic, the fight between the former champion and the former interim champion was postponed. Due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions, Nurmagomedov was unable to leave Russia. This was the fifth time that they had postponed a fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson due to various issues. Ultimately, Ferguson consented to compete for the interim UFC lightweight championship against Justin Gaethje.

Ferguson did not win the bout; Gaethje outstruck him in each of the five rounds. Ferguson experienced the eventual defeat by TKO in the fifth round. The fans were hooked on the screen because the fight was brutal and intense. Both competitors were given the ‘Fight of the Night’ award as a result of their challenging contest.
Following his fight with Gaethje, ‘El Cucuy’ competed in UFC 256 against Charles Oliveira, which he lost by unanimous decision. He and Beneil Dariush engaged in combat at UFC 262, when luck once again wasn’t on his side. He lost once more due to a unanimous choice. His subsequent two fights were against Michael Chandler and Nate Diaz for UFC 274 and UFC 279, respectively.
