Tom Hardy May Have Become an MMA Champion but He’s Still Outranked by Joe Rogan, Ashton Kutcher, Russell Brand & Jason Statham in Jiu-Jitsu

Tom Hardy is learning BJJ and Michael B. Jordan is training in boxing. Celebrities indulging in Mixed Martial Arts is a common site these days. Whether it’s for a movie role or just out of the sheer love for the sport, several Hollywood stars are picking up martial arts as a mode of training.

Amongst several MMA practices, the one which is widespread amongst celebrities is Jiu-Jitsu. There are several celebrities who practice Jiu-Jitsu as well as hold a certain rank in it.

Recently actor Tom Hardy made it to the headlines when he shocked the world by winning a BJJ tournament. The Hollywood star out grappled all his competition moreover, he emerged victorious in the event.

A few months earlier, the blue belt was seen competing in another grappling event, held in Wolverhampton. The ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star with his ace jiu-jitsu skills, bagged gold in that tournament as well.

Hollywood Celebrities who rank higher than Tom Hardy in Jiu-Jitsu

Hardy has recently gained a reputation for being a straight-up elite grappler. However, there are Hollywood superstars who hold a better rank than the Venom Star. Although not actively competing, these stars have been practicing the art for years now.

Most Notably, Ashton Kutcher, who took up the art almost a decade ago, is a proud owner of a brown belt. The ‘Two and a half men’ actor trains under 8th-degree red and white belt Rigan Machado who runs The Academy Beverly Hills.

There are clips of the actor training with UFC middleweight, Paulo Costa and BJJ legend, Craig Jones. However, there is no public video of him competing in a grappling tournament.

Jason Statham and Russell Brand are other notable celebrities who attained the purple belt after years of consistent training. Brand called the ancient martial arts a means to self-discovery. The actor said that he learned to handle his body better, and it even taught him humility.

Apart from them, UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, and Director Guy Ritchie hold black belts while WWE superstar turned Actor, Dave Bautista is a purple belt. Musician Demi Lovato, on the other hand, is a blue belt.

Furthermore, actors like Jonah Hill, Keanu Reeves, Charlie Hunnam, Margot Robbie, Nicolas Cage, and Vin Diesel are known to train in BJJ.
