The Spinning backkick that was heard around the world! A lethal sunset on one of the sport’s absolute best in the form of Stipe Miocic further cemented the possibility of Jon Jones retiring at the top of his game. However, following the win, the undisputed kingpin had a change of heart and hinted that he might not hang up his gloves just yet, depending on how things progress.

TNT Sports recently shared a video featuring Tom Aspinall, where he analyzed Jon Jones’ fight against Stipe Miocic on a big screen. Aspinall highlighted Jones’ mastery of distracting opponents with his lead hand before launching a spinning kick. “What is he doing? He constantly distracts you with the lead hand,” Aspinall explained. “He keeps you busy with that before he turns and starts throwing these kicks.”

Aspinall also emphasized Jones’ high-level fight IQ, pointing out how the champion consistently uses his front hand to set up his attacks. “This comes first. It’s the front hand. Watch how he just paws it out before he does anything,” Aspinall said. “He does that every time you take it. He occupies the front hand, then works his attacks off it. That’s high-level fight IQ from Jon Jones. He’s one of the smartest fighters ever.” The Brit further noted how Jones varies his attacks and works off his front leg, showcasing just how dangerous the champion can be.

Aspinall also praised Jon Jones’ unique grappling skills, particularly his ability to secure a double-leg takedown. “His grappling is different,” Aspinall noted. “When he gets his hands together on a double leg, it becomes incredibly difficult to break that barrier. It’s a signature part of his game.”

Despite being recognized as one of the most intelligent and dominant fighters inside the octagon, Jon Jones’ future remains uncertain. While he continues to display his skill and intellect in each fight, the possibility of retirement looms over the heavyweight division’s fate.

Jon Jones’ latest comments regarding the question of retiring

The consensus MMA GOAT recently took to social media to address rumors about his future. While Jones didn’t give a clear answer on who his next challenger would be, he hinted at the possibility of fighting another top contender if everything goes according to plan. When a fan asked, “So, you’re retiring?” echoing the growing speculation that Jones might step away for good, Jones’ reply was as calculated as his in-cage tactics.

“I’d probably vacate the belt before officially retiring. Let’s see how my meeting with the UFC goes,” he responded cryptically, leaving fans even more intrigued about his future. This ambiguous statement only fueled the speculation, and while some fans poked fun at Jones’ uncertainty, he remained unfazed. He made it clear that he’s focused on further cementing his legacy, regardless of the rumors swirling around his retirement.

Jones further took shots at the fans mocking him for allegedly ducking the Englishman, “Crazy how being called a ‘duck’ pays better than most of you Internet tough guys will make in a lifetime. Two fights in four years and still one of the biggest names in the sport? That’s not ducking, that’s winning. God’s blessings hit different, stay mad … Peer pressure and playground insults don’t hit quite the same at 37.”

The question remains, though: Will we ever see Jones face Tom Aspinall inside the Octagon? It’s a matchup fans are eagerly awaiting, but only time will tell. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
