Is Jon Jones' legacy tarnished beyond repair after his latest controversial outburst?

The UFC heavyweight division has been witnessing the rise of a pretty heated rivalry between the undisputed champion and the interim champion. Jon Jones is slated to land against Stipe Miocic and defend his HW championship title. Meanwhile, Tom Aspinall awaits to witness the bout and fight for the championship belt. However, the drama between the fighters has just begun to heat up.

Aspinall, with his eyes fixed on the heavyweight gold, began calling out Jones ever since he claimed the interim championship belt. The ‘Honey Badger’ took the rivalry up a notch by claiming ‘Bones’ was the champion of dodging fights. Needless to say, Jones didn’t like it and sent an X-rated response to the Britisher. But now, Aspinall decided to drag in Jones’ troubles with dr-g tests to the banter.

Things began heating up when Aspinall appeared in an interview with Sports Bible, not too long ago. Therein, the British fighter was asked a few questions and in the end, a controversial question -popped up, asking to say who was the “champion of fight dodging.” Without wasting a single moment, Aspinall named Jones.

Soon after, Jones took to X and tweeted, “This dude literally has my large black c–k in his mouth every week. I’m flattered. I absolutely guarantee he will not win more world championships than me. That’s truly all that matters at the end of the day. There’s been many champions, no one like me. I sleep good at night.” No doubt, Jones has a pretty impressive professional MMA record with 27 victories and just one debatable loss. On the other hand, Aspinall has significantly fewer fights under his name, with 15 wins and 3 losses.

‘Bones’ quickly deleted the tweet, but it seems like Aspinall stumbled upon the champion’s words on social media. Aspinall didn’t leave the chance to lash back out at the heavyweight champion and dragged in his troubled past. He wrote, “Jon’s right, he’s won so many more world championships than me… while using PED’s.”

Jones simply couldn’t stay away from the troubled waters. Earlier in April 2024, the champ was accused of misbehaving with dr-g testing agents and the threat of possible jail time and fines loomed over his head. However, he pleaded not guilty and claimed that the incident never took place.

‘Bones’ denies all allegations by the ‘Dr-g Free Sport’ testers

On the 5th of April, a case was filed against Jones that accused him of allegedly making threats to a dr-g testing agent and assaulting him during sample collection. What happened was, when ‘Bones’ was apparently unable to provide a urine sample, and the situation escalated when the agent offered to draw some blood samples instead. On 17th July, Jones appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.

The HW champ later said, “I was recently visited by testers while I was celebrating a birthday and taking a nap. Upon waking up, I was caught off guard by the unprofessionalism and protocol by one of the testers which caused frustration leading me to use some profanity I regret. I want to assure you that I will vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations. The truth is, the incident simply did not occur.”

But the entire world of mixed martial arts patiently waits for the champion to step back into the Octagon and face Aspinall after fighting Miocic. But what are your thoughts on Jones’ legal troubles and his online beef with Aspinall? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
