Lightweight star Paddy Pimblett had already sent the crowd at the Co-op Live arena into a frenzy with his submission win over King Green, hitting back at his critics. However, knockouts are what fans anticipate in most fights and Tom Aspinall gave them just that in his first-ever title defense.

The first of the two title fights at UFC 304 proved to be an exciting treat for the fans. As Tom Aspinall stepped into the Octagon with the home-field advantage at Manchester against Curtis Blaydes, things turned out in his favor. He not only defended his title and avenged his only UFC loss, but he did it in style. Thereafter, the self-proclaimed ‘Honey Badger’ sent a brief message to Jon Jones.

The fight started off with the underdog Curtis Blaydes trying to land some of his strikes, leading Tom Aspinall to charge in as they got into a cliche. However, it took just one mighty blow from the interim champion to knock the contender down. Aspinall went ahead to capitalize on that situation and landed some blows on the ground. Thereafter, referee Marc Goddard called off the fight for the champion to retain his title.

After defeating Curtis Blaydes in just one minute, Tom Aspinall revealed that he had a conversation with Dana White. During his Octagon interview, he said, “I just spoke to Boss Man. Who wants to see Tom Aspinall vs Jon Jones?”  As he said that, the crowd in Manchester erupted with joy at the possibility of their own UFC champion fighting Jones in the near future.

There’s a big chance the fight with Jon Jones could happen soon and Aspinall seems confident about his chances against the supposed greatest of all time. “Hello, I have nothing against you personally. But I just think I am better than you. I just know I can beat you in a fight,” the interim champion added. Meanwhile, it’s not just Aspinall who’s confident about beating Jones. A former rival of the undisputed champion appears confident for the interim champion as well.

“He has all the weapons to beat Jon. Jon hasn’t been that active, but he’s still the GOAT. You can never count this guy out, he’s so freaking good at what he does. He’s handled every opponent and everybody knows how good he is, but Aspinall right now, I see him as very dangerous for Jon,” Alexander Gustafson told ‘Top Offshore Casinos’.
