According to the ͏UF͏C CEO,͏ ͏Netflix is lat͏e to the race, “I always believed in, I always thought that Netflix was crazy not to get into live sports sooner than they did. You know, those guys truly have a global footprint, and, uh, you know, I think they’re late to the game, but it was a big success.”

After hearing Dana White’s thoughts, the host asked the UFC CEO whether this positive endeavor by Netflix had given him any consideration to doing business with them. The UFC CEO emphasized that the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson endeavor was a smart thing for the entity to do considering the fact that it gave them a headstart to handle such traffic ahead of their NFL and WWE Monday Night Raw screening, “No, I thought it was—I actually thought it was smart of them to do. You know, listen, I’m not gonna—I didn’t think the event was a great event, but they needed to.”

He further added, “They needed to do that. They needed to bring in—they knew Mike Tyson was going to bring in big numbers. Mike Tyson was going to pull a big number, and this was a good test for them before they start airing the NFL. I mean, when you have—they’re saying it was like over 65 million people tuning in at the same time.” The UFC CEO initia͏lly opp͏osed this͏ fight, e͏xpressing concerns that ͏i͏t migh͏t͏ t͏a͏rnish the ͏enduring l͏egacy of͏ ͏Mike Tyson. Could Netflix's success with Tyson vs. Paul spell trouble for ESPN's hold on UFC rights?

Have an interesting take?

He further added, “I think we’re going to do very well going into this next deal. I think as we go into our negotiations in 2025, this thing could play out in a lot of different ways. Obviously we could be with Disney and ESPN for however many years or you could see all our content get chopped up like WWE and NFL does and different products going to different networks. I don’t know how that’s going to play out as we get closer to getting into these negotiations, but it is a possibility.”

The UFC CEO might look at Netflix as a potential contender for the broadcasting rights but ESPN is still the frontrunner to clinch it considering the fact that the promotion is still at the top. Regardless, what’s your take on the situation? State your thoughts in the comments below.
