Darren Till faced Derek Brunson at the UFC Vegas 36 event on September 4, 2021. ‘The Gorilla’ lost the fight via a 3rd round submission and gained his 2nd successive middleweight defeat. After this recent loss of Till, many people have been speculating as to what is next for the fighter. Recently Jared Cannonier also shared his views on the same.
During a recent interview with Submission Radio, they asked Cannonier about whether he thinks Till can succeed in the middleweight division. Cannonier said, “Well, I think Kevin Holland’s been posting Memes already off Till, joining him and somebody else to go with him to Dagestan to learn how to wrestle. So it was funny.”

“I think if Till learns how not to get held down, he still has that potential to be very successful in the division until he comes up against me. I definitely don’t think it’s over for him. He definitely looked like won as far as the striking aspect of the fight went. And he was on his way, especially in that 3rd round.”
‘The Killa Gorilla’ is pretty confident that if Till works on certain aspects of his fighting, he can still be successful. Cannonier even talked about what mistake he thinks Till made that cost him the fight against Brunson.

“He was on his way to probably put a stamp on that and then lost. I think Till made an error. When Brunson shot in he defended him, Till went for the front headlock position which invites wrestling position all day long so. Ya, I think Till definitely still has an opportunity to be successful.”
Will Jared Cannonier and Darren Till face each other in the future?
As both Cannonier and Till are a part of the UFC’s middleweight division, there is a chance that the fighters might face each other sometime in the near future. However, as of now, a fight seems highly unlikely as Cannonier is ranked No.3 in the UFC rankings, and with another victory might become the No.1 contender to the title.

Meanwhile, Till has not been in the best of forms and is on a 2 fight losing streak. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that he will face a top-ranked fighter soon. However, if Till does well in his next couple of fights, he might just face ‘The Killa Gorilla’ some time in the future.
Do you think a fight between Jared Cannonier and Darren Till will take place?
