Former two-division champion Henry Cejudo is gearing up for his fight against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288. He recently appeared on the media day for the event discussing his bantamweight title bout on May 6. However, the reporters took the opportunity to ask him if he’d consider coaching Conor McGregor since he has a track record of helping out other fighters. ‘Triple C’ responded in the negative.

Henry Cejudo enjoys training the biggest UFC stars. He even went viral on social media after Jon Jones defeated Ciryl Gane with the same move Cejudo taught him during training, even though ‘Bones’ didn’t mention that in the post-fight pressers.

‘Triple C’ made it clear that he had no intentions of training the former Irish champion due to some of the offensive things he spoke about his friends, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Ali Abdelaziz. Cejudo said, “No, no [on coaching Conor]. I think he’s offended too many of my good friends.” He claims to have been a fan of McGregor during his peak. “At first, I was kind of a Conor hater. Then I became a fan like, ‘You know what? This dude, he won me over,'” said the former double champion.

He mentioned that by talking ill of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov after his death and calling his manager a terrorist, Conor McGregor took things to another level. Cejudo added, “But I think he took things a little too far… talking about Khabib’s [Nurmagomedov] father after him passing, and calling my manager a rat, terrorist, and all that.” Henry Cejudo didn’t find anything funny or entertaining when McGregor made those derogatory remarks.

‘Triple C’ reviewed one of McGregor’s fights

Henry Cejudo reminded the people on the media day that he has shared a feedback video regarding one of McGregor’s fights on social media. He said, “I have done a fight-feedback [for him]. If he was smart, he’d watch it.” The Olympic winner highlighted the main weak points in ‘Notorious’s fighting style. “The biggest thing that Conor could do is adjust his stance. He’s too heavy on that lead leg.”

‘Triple C’ believes that Conor McGregor is not an aggressor by nature. He likes to wait for his opponent to close in before landing a powerful shot to potentially win the fight. And whenever ‘Notorious’ tried to be aggressive, his opponents got the better of him. Cejudo said, “Conor anticipates, and he counters well… notice when he started to get a little too aggressive, started coming in too forward, people kind of started to understand his bluff.”

Conor McGregor once tweeted to share his condolences for Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s death. But he later deleted the tweet. Henry Cejudo gets the vibe that McGregor would love to train with him, but he just couldn’t go against Nurmagomedov and Abdelaziz. “I know he would like it [help Conor train] but I just couldn’t, man. I couldn’t do that to Khabib nor Ali,” said Cejudo.

The Olympic Gold medalist would look to put his passion for training other fighters on the backseat for now and focus on what lies ahead. Facing the champion Aljamain Sterling could prove to be a tough test since it is his first fight in over three years.
