The UFC heavyweight division has been waiting to witness a fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic for a long time now. The fight was previously slated to happen back in 2023, but Jones’ pectoral tear held up the bout. Nevertheless, with the HW champ’s recovery, the bout is expected to entertain the fighting community in November 2024. But Tom Aspinall isn’t quite happy with the matchup.

Being the interim champion of the division, Aspinall believes that he is the one who deserves to go up against Jones for a shot at the championship title. In a recent interview with TNT Sports, ‘Honey Badger’ even dragged in the POTUS, Joe Biden, to show how old Miocic was. He said, “When he gets Stipe out of there, let’s be honest. The guy is 43 years old, and while he’s an absolute legend in the sport—statistically the best heavyweight ever—the guy needs to be Joe Biden’s mate, he’s too old. No one’s that interested anymore.”

But now, ‘Stone Cold’ has taken the fight fans’ breath away with an update. On the 13th of August, Miocic took to X and shared a picture of himself. Needless to say, he looked quite strong and muscular. The caption of the post read, “Train like a beast, look like a beauty.”

As soon as ‘The Silencer’ shared the post on the social media platform, the fight fans took over the comments section and shared their views. Let’s see what the fighting community said.

Fight fans want Stipe Miocic to defeat Jon Jones

Some of the fight fans sent forth a warning to the current heavyweight champion, claiming that ‘The Silencer’ looked pretty dangerous. The comment read, “Jones better get his act together, this version of Stipe is dangerous.”

But most of the fans began ‘The Silencer’ to try his best and claim a victory against ‘Bones’. Miocic has an impressive career in the UFC with 20 wins and just 4 losses. And out of those 20 wins, a majority came via knockouts. After all, the challenger’s punches are nothing short of a wrecking ball, don’t you think? The fight fans simply wished for Miocic to execute one more KO by punches against Jones. A fan wrote, “stipe please pull it off one final time.” Meanwhile, another account commented, “I really hope you smash that cheating peace of s**t.”

It has been over 3 years since Miocic entered the octagon for a fight. He has been out of action ever since he lost to Francis Ngannou back in 2021. One of the fans pushed the former 2-time HW champ and prayed for him to have enough stamina to get one last victory before retirement. The fan wrote, “Stipe, I pray you got gas left in the tank because I’ve been in your camp since day one.  I know father time takes no prisoners in the world of MMA, but for the love of God, please shut Jon Jones the f**k up..  and then retire as the GOAT.” Another fan added, “Imagine you beat Jon Jones and retire after 5 rounds of slug fest. Would be epic.”

But the hype around the former heavyweight champion’s return to the MMA cage was palpable. No doubt, the entire combat sports world has shown excitement about his return. One fan wrote, “Can’t wait to see you in the octagon again, Stipe. LET’S GO!!”

However, talks about Jones’ and Miocic’s age weren’t out of discussion. While Jones is 37 years old, Miocic is 41. Needless to say, the MMA world believes it’s high time for both of the fighters to opt for retirement. And just like Aspinall said, some of the fans believed it wasn’t a worthy fight. One fan commented, “You are 41 Jones is 37. Battle of the Elderly UFC Heavyweights.”

But what could be done to make it right? Miocic was also urged to let Aspinall have the title shot. But that didn’t mean the fans didn’t deem Miocic as a legendary fighter. One fan wrote, “Give your title shot to Aspinall. Do the right thing.” Meanwhile, another fan added, “Stipe you’re a legend but it’s Toms time.”
