“Ask and you shall receive I guess!” is what UFC CEO Dana White said for the latest event announcements for UFC 313 and 314. But is it the case? Are fans getting their wishes granted? Does not seem like it because Dan Hooker is out from his combat with Justin Gaethje at UFC 313. With that, the fight card has lost a little of its glamor and allure.
This lightweight match was expected to steal the limelight and possibly be a promising candidate for Fight of the Year given that Gaethje and Hooker put up entertaining slugfests. This left Gaethje without a dance partner and now the boss has revealed that the new co-main event will be Rafael Fiziev vs Gaethje.
He said, “Gaethje, I don’t know how I am gotta sell to you 13 performance bonuses in 13 fights. 20 of his 25 wins are by knockout and Fiziev in his last fight was cut short due to an unfortunate knee injury.”

There was another setback for the fans left when the head honcho announced a matchup for UFC 314. White declared, “Another announcement I have for you is UFC 314 on April 12 Miami Florida. It is Silva who fought last weekend and what an unbelievable performance in Seattle. Immediately calls out Bryce Mitchell. Bryce Mitchell immediately texts Hunter Campbell and says I want the fight. So we made it.”

Jean Silva got his wish granted in an instant while calling out Mitchell after his knockout win at UFC Seattle. The Brazilian will fight the contentious featherweight star and this is coming after Silva’s brutal finish over Melsik Baghdasaryan. But are the fans happy? It does not seem like it and they had some different demands.

Fans lash out at Dana White after the new fight announcements
UFC fans were pretty vocal about their preference after seeing the latest news unfold. One follower said, “Nobody cares to see Fiziev Dana c’mon”, while another said, “This sucks, already saw it.” One follower mentioned that Dana White needed some rest, saying, “Dana, get some rest brotha.” After the cursed UFC Seattle event that had 7 fight cancellations, truly the boss might need some rest.
Another follower said, “Seen it. there were far more bangers out there for Justin.” When it comes to the lightweight duo, they have a pretty deep history. Justin Gaethje defeated Fiziev in the duo’s first clash in March 2023, which earned him a majority decision. The rematch is happening just two years later as the former interim lightweight and BMF champ, is seeking to climb back to success after his UFC 300 loss to Max Holloway. So fans did witness this slugfest before and want something new now.

One follower said, “Weak fight as a co-main event. 313 is mid as fu— now, guess Pereira will have to save another event.” UFC 313 is going to be headlined by light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira against Magomed Ankalaev, so truly ‘Poatan’ might steal the show from the co-main easily. One follower spoke about Jose Aldo not getting legends as opponents, while other fighters keep getting good matchups. They said, “Let’s make Mitchell and Silva but give Aldo a bunch of shi–y opponents!!” Aldo is set to fight Aiemann Zahabi next. Aldo became the first UFC Featherweight Champion and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, so his stature in the MMA realm is unrivaled.
Another fan said, “We already saw Gaethje Fiziev. What a waste. It proves nothing for Gaethje. It’s the worst option.” Another follower spoke about Bryce Mitchell fighting Silva, saying, “Bryce, you don’t need any more brain damage. Give the guy a break.” He indeed suffered a concussion after being knocked out by Josh Emmett at UFC 296. He was even on a six-month break and avoided training. So are these matchups as bad as the fans make it sound? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
