Most UFC fans are aware of the fact that PEDs have been a disfavored part of the sport of MMA for a long time. Despite the current USADA crackdown on athletes using PEDs, a number of violations are still reported every year. UFC athletes aren’t strangers to this unfair process. The USADA has sidelined a number of UFC athletes to date owing to their steroid usage. But, the noted UFC lightweight Bobby Green recently revealed how the current UFC lightweight champ, Islam Makhachev may be resorting to similar methods, but away from the USADA’s reach.

However, this accusation from ‘King’ didn’t sit well with the noted retired UFC icon, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Most fans know that ‘The Eagle’ is the mentor to the current Dagestani lightweight champ. He used his Instagram and provided a befitting reply to Green’s accusations against him and Makhachev.

In the former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s podcast, Green fired his shots at Makhachev and ‘The Eagle’. Most UFC fans know that Khabib and Makhachev are both devout Muslims and visit mosques regularly for prayers. It’s also a known fact that people from other religions aren’t welcome inside mosques.

Green accused Khabib and Makhachev of using this to their advantage. He said, “Khabib, Islam, and others go to the mosque. They train in places where USADA cannot go. They can do whatever they want for months”. It’s pertinent to note that he had the same accusations against other Russian athletes as well. 

However, he also accused the UFC of playing a part in it by allowing them to stay in a place like Abu Dhabi for months. ‘King’ said, “Why do they keep sending them to Abu Dhabi? You know what I mean?”

Green also revealed that this is the real reason behind his thinking that the former UFC lightweight king, Charles Oliveira, will once again taste defeat in his rematch against Makhachev at UFC 294. He got submitted by the Dagestani at their UFC 280 matchup in Abu Dhabi only.

Khabib Nurmagomedov gave a reality check to Bobby Green’s ambiguous claims

Looking at the image that Nurmagomedov maintains in the sport, it’s apparent that he won’t be taking all of this silently. Initially, he justified the UFC’s choice of letting Makhachev train wherever he wanted since he was a UFC champion.

Nurmagomedov’s Instagram status, when translated to English, partially read, “There’s nothing wrong with giving power to a champion, whether you like it or not. But it is not given to everyone, for this, you need brains and preferably not from straw”.

Thereafter, ‘The Eagle’ went on debunking Green’s claims with statistics. Another half of his status translated to, “I took the doping test 49 times in 5 years. Islam is about to have 50 tests, someone tell Bobby, what Islam did to him was a pure technique developed over the years.”
