Merab Dvalishvili has unequivocally stated that he has no intention of competing against Aljamain Sterling. In addition, he is willing to jeopardize his opportunity for a title shot for ‘Funk Master’. However, Dana White does not share the same sentiment. The UFC president expressed his views on the matter during a recent press conference.
Dvalishvili, without any doubt, has earned his opportunity to challenge for the title. ‘The Machine’ is now on a 9-fight winning streak, which has put him next in line to fight Sean O’Malley. However, he does not want to go through with that before his friend Aljamain Sterling gets a rematch. This has seemingly enraged Dana White. Let’s see what he had to say about this situation.

Tuesday night’s press conference saw Dana White address the Georgian fighter’s decision to turn down a title shot. The 54-year-old was clearly not happy with Merab Dvalishvili and had some rough words to say. Furthermore, he questioned Dvalishvili’s mentality for getting into the fight game. He believes that the 32-year-old shouldn’t have gotten into MMA if he didn’t want to become champion. Dana White further added, “Why did you even get into this sport if that’s your mentality, the way that you think?” The UFC president also mentioned that there are a lot of people with whom any fighter can be friends, but the sport isn’t about that.

Dana White made it clear that MMA is not about being friends with people. Rather, it is about finding out who the best fighter in the world is. “This is not about friendship. This is about finding out who the best in the world is,” said the 54-year-old. He also warned Merab Dvalishvili that he should consider other options if he doesn’t want to fight for the championship.

“If you don’t want to find out who the best in the world is, this is not the place for you,” said White. He also stated that the Georgian’s philosophy does not work in the UFC.
