Despite being supportive of a number of combat sports rituals, fans have often expressed their opinions against some of them as well. Such fans also exist in the UFC community. To some, the ‘BMF’ title of the UFC was nothing but useless hype that the promotion treats as one of its real championships. There are also a number of fans who don’t see the point behind a promotion having interim championships.
This narrative became widely visible as the noted UFC Interim Featherweight champ, Yair Rodriguez, recently met up with the noted former UFC Featherweight champ, Jose Aldo. Rodriguez was showcasing his custom-made UFC Interim Championship to Aldo, who absolutely loved it. But the fans had other opinions while the video of this incident was posted by ‘ESPN MMA’s’ Twitter handle.

Most fans made a mockery of Yair Rodriguez’s custom-made UFC Interim Featherweight belt
The two UFC stars, Rodriguez and Aldo, met up somewhere in the process of building up the former’s upcoming bout against the famed UFC Featherweight king, Alexander Volkanovski, at the UFC 290 main event.

But, the UFC Interim Featherweight championship belt held by Rodriguez looked quite different from the regular UFC Interim championships. The caption to ‘ESPN MMA’s’ tweet read, “Jose Aldo was in awe of Yair’s custom belt #UFC290”, clarifying the fact that the belt was a custom-made one.

But the fans seemed nowhere near convinced to accept that belt as a legit UFC championship. Some fans even indirectly undermined the importance of an interim championship in a promotion.
A few such comments on the tweet read:

But, as we all know that there can hardly be any topic in this world on which every person will have the same opinion. While most fans chose to mock Rodriguez and his custom UFC Interim Featherweight championship, some thought of bringing out a positive aspect of the video.
Some fans also lauded Jose Aldo knowing the UFC Featherweight legend he had once been
Most UFC fans can hardly ever forget the dominance that ‘the Brazilian’, Aldo, once had over the UFC featherweight division. Prior to his devastating loss against Conor McGregor, many believed that Aldo could only lose his championship if he was beaten while asleep.
