Volkanovski and Makhachev have been making headlines lately. Their Lightweight title matchup took place on February 11, 2023, at the UFC 284. Makhachev bested the Featherweight champion via UD. Since then, both fighters have gone back to intense training with the sole objective of dominating their respective weight classes.

Following their matchup at UFC 284, Volkanovski was offered a rematch. However, he would have to wait for a long time to get back to the octagon.

This didn’t sit well with the Aussie martial artist who wants to be active. As reported by ‘MMA Fighting’, he said, “I wanted to be active. I told you that. … I ain’t waiting. I’d rather fight featherweight then do the rematch sometime at the end of the year whenever it is. Whenever that fight can happen, that fight’s always gonna be there. I want to stay active and I told you I wanted to stay active, and I wasn’t lying. This is proof of that.”

The Aussie went on to make a serious claim that can foment the entire Lightweight division, saying “When I do get that lightweight belt, you know I’ll be keeping both divisions busy. A lot of people were like, ‘How you gonna do it?’ This is how I’m gonna do it.”

Fans took to the social media platform to share their reactions on getting wind of a possible rematch between Volkanovski and Makhachev. However, not all of them were optimistic about Volkanovski’s chances. While some pointed out Makhachev’s impressive record and skills as a fighter, others questioned whether Volkanovski was truly prepared for such a tough opponent.
