Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently found himself at the center of controversy once again. The latest incident that garnered significant attention took place a couple of weeks ago during his appearance on the three-hour-long Joe Rogan Experience podcast, episode #2255. This segment became one of the most debated, as Zuckerberg—typically known for his private and reserved nature—made a series of bold statements that sent shockwaves across the tech world, from companies like Apple to the political landscape of India, the world’s largest democracy.

What made the episode even more controversial was not just Zuckerberg’s comments, but also his shifting stances and tangents during the conversation. The internet buzzed with a clip posted by @historyinmemes and in it, the podcaster, who is an avid hunter, mentioned his love for hunting with a bow and arrow. Zuckerberg quickly chimed in, claiming, “My favorite is bow and arrow,” a statement that impressed Rogan, who believed he might have found a future expedition partner.

However, the tech mogul soon contradicted himself, saying, “No, I mostly use a rifle just because it’s so much more efficient. Your conversion rate is so much higher, but it’s…” Joe Rogan, clearly unfazed by this inconsistency, pressed further, asking, “What kind of bow do you have?” Zuckerberg hesitated and attempted to dodge the question. When the podcaster inquired, “But do you know the company that makes it? Do you know how old it is?” the Meta boss struggled to provide an answer. In an awkward attempt to cover up, he finally responded with, “This is embarrassing.”

However, this was far from the end of the conversation. Rogan quickly delved deeper, taking Zuckerberg to task on a key issue. Rogan brought up Zuckerberg’s previous position on

“content moderation” during the Joe Biden administration, where he supported the regulation of media content.

But with the shift in leadership under President Donald Trump, Zuckerberg seemed to adjust his stance. The podcaster didn’t hold back, calling out the Meta CEO for this inconsistency, saying,

“And then they leave, and I go, ‘Yeah, but you [Mark Zuckerberg] were just lying to us about this, that…now I’m supposed to believe you’re one of the good guys?”

Meta apologizes for Mark Zuckerberg’s claim on JRE

During his controversial conversation with Joe Rogan about the COVID-19 pandemic, Mark Zuckerberg remarked on the 2024 elections in various countries, including India, which had recently held its central elections. He suggested that ‘most incumbent governments’ had been affected by a global trend.

Zuckerberg stated, “There is some sort of global phenomenon, whether it was inflation due to the economic policies implemented to deal with COVID or how governments handled the pandemic…have a global effect, not just in the US, but across a broad decrease in trust, especially in incumbent governments and possibly democratic institutions overall.”

His statement quickly gained traction, sparking criticism from Indian politicians, including the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, who labeled it as “misinformation.” In response, Meta issued a statement clarifying Zuckerberg’s comment, writing on X: “Dear Honourable Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw, Mark’s observation that many incumbent parties were not re-elected in 2024 elections applies to several countries, BUT not India. We apologize for this inadvertent error.”
