“This Guy, That’s Who Is Lying” – Daniel Cormier Once Got Into a Debate With Khabib & Islam Makhachev Over USA vs. Dagestan Wrestling

The bond between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier can easily melt the hearts of any UFC fan. There are multiple videos of both ex-UFC fighters in which it’s highly evident that they are best friends. They make sure that they share some of their funniest videos for their followers to enjoy. When Nurmagomedov announced his retirement, DC’s heartwarming message for his best buddy caught the attention of many. However, the American Kickboxing Academy buddies also used to have silly arguments. An old viral of them is the best example. However, the video stands out for one particular reason, and that’s the priceless reaction Islam Makhachev gives to both of them.

The funny debate between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier

In the viral video, it is seen that Cormier was interviewing Islam Makhachev when Khabib Nurmagomedov interrupted the two. The funny factor is that he not only interrupted them but also started to have a silly argument with Cormier within seconds.

When Cormier was talking about Makhachev‘s achievements, Nurmagomedov interrupted and asked if he was only going to promote Makhachev now. To which Cormier gave a sweet and funny reply that Nurmagomedov is retired and doesn’t need a promotion because he is already a global superstar. Later, Nurmagomedov hugged Cormier, followed by trying a handcuff on him; ‘The Eagle’ called it the Dagestani handcuff. It is from there the funny debate began. DC retorted to Nurmagomedov, saying that it cannot be called a Dagestani handcuff.

Nurmagomedev replied that it is called so because only he does it. The debate continued, and DC claimed that the USA has had this policy for a long time. Additionally, he claimed that all of them did it, including Anthony Johnson. Cormier stood strong on the point that USA wrestling is better than Dagestan wrestling.

To add weight to his point, he mockingly added, “When my kids went to Dagestan, we smashed!” He used the word ‘smashed‘ to make fun of Nurmagomedov‘s English. It is then Islam joined the debate. He asked Cormier not to lie. As a reply to this, Cormier pointed at the Russian fighter and said, “This guy, that’s who is lying.“

There is no doubt that it is their funny debates that make them the favorite UFC duo. There are some hilarious videos of these two that the UFC community absolutely loves. A video of Nurmagomedov grappling with Cormier was uploaded in 2020. After grappling with DC, Nurmagomedov tried to tie him up. This made the video more humorous. However, Cormier became one of the few fighters who tactfully overcame the strong moves of ‘The Eagle’.
