When he’s not talking trash about other fighters, Colby Covington isn’t quite himself. The fighter has made a heel character out of being a generally polarizing figure to be around. Especially when it comes to his interviews. Fans usually enjoy his spats against so many fighters it’s impossible to keep count. It also invites him a lot of trouble but that hasn’t changed a thing in years.

Recently, Covington appeared for yet another interview with Submission Radio. The YouTube video saw him speak about a number of things ranging from his upcoming fight to his opinions on fighters that may or may not be in his division. However, this time around, he also had something nice to say about an entity that changed his life.

Colby Covington was going off on Leon Edwards, the current welterweight champion. ‘Chaos’ is currently preparing to go up against Edwards at UFC 296. The main event will have the title on the line and it was obvious that the fighter isn’t going to hold back. Whether it’s in the Octagon or on the mic. However, he also took some time to praise Dana White and Co., while trashing ‘Rocky’.

“I’m here to do the biggest and best business for the UFC the company I love so much,” said ‘Chaos’. “The company that I want to be here for the rest of my life and you know, I want to work for this company that changed my life you know, a bum from Oregon who you know had had a tough upbringing but was able to completely change his life with good decisions.”

Clearly, Covington holds a lot of high values to support the UFC. Previously, even Conor McGregor has praised the organization calling Dana White his “brother for life”. The company has made a difference to the lives of a lot of fighters who come from harsh backgrounds like Max Holloway, Francis Ngannou, as well as one of the newest additions, Themba Gorimbo.

Does this mean Covington will keep fighting with the promotion for as long as he competes? Many fighters decide to change to different promotions as time moves forward. Recently, Ngannou as well as Derek Brunson moved away to the PFL for a change of pace. With Covington’s praises, it’d be unexpected to see him change promotions.

Colby Covington has been preparing and talking trash about Edwards for a while now. The champion has gone undefeated for eight years now. He’s torn down giants like Kamaru Usman and now hopes ‘Chaos’ is next. The fighter went on record to let everyone know his motivation to fight Covington.

“I just want to fight him because I don’t like him, so that will be even more fuel for me in training. He’s an alright fighter – but look at his resume compared to my resume.”

Covington is not about to have an easy fight on his hands. His confidence is as sky-high as it ever was. However, will it ever be able to translate to his hits and grappling in the cage? Edwards is certain he’ll retain his title while Covington always claims he’ll become the champion for sure. Which one of the two is right? We’ll find out on December 16th at UFC 296.
