Sean O’Malley recently sat down with eminent MMA journalist Aaron Bronsteter. During his discussion with the journalist, ‘Suga’ spoke volumes about his upcoming title fight against Aljamain Sterling. The bout is going to be hosted at the UFC 292 PPV at TD Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Ahead of his clash, the #2 bantamweight told Bronsteter that being a champ was never one of his primary goals. Moreover, he also labeled his rival Sterling as the “bantamweight GOAT.” Considering ‘Funk Master’s star-studded records in the division, ‘Suga’s praise is pretty apt. The #6 UFC pound-for-pound fighter boasts the most successful consecutive title defenses in the UFC’s Bantamweight history.

But aside from his UFC title shot, there’s something else that’s been bothering O’Malley for a while now. He feels that MMA managers are taking undue advantage of fighters. How? Well, ‘Suga’s frustration with MMA managers boiled over as he stated, “They’re stealing money from fighters. They’re taking percentages of these guys’ bonuses – that really pisses me off to be honest.”

O’Malley’s sentiments highlight a serious concern within the MMA community, where fighters put their bodies on the line for lucrative bonuses, only to see a portion of their earnings slip away due to managerial actions.

And these managers are trying to take a percentage of that?” The frustration in his words underscores the magnitude of the issue for fighters – who work tirelessly to earn every dollar.
