Back in 2020, Joe Rogan moved to Texas and left the state of California for good. As a result, many in the community were understandably intrigued and wanted to know why the famed UFC color commentator took the decision of moving from California. Undeniably, Rogan has previously provided many reasons for his move. His recent appearance on the ‘Oil and Whiskey podcast, however, revealed a whole new take on the topic.
Before praising Texas for the freedom it provided, Rogan recalled a few conversations he had with his friends during the pandemic. He declared that he simply had to leave the state and settle somewhere else. Nevertheless, Rogan has witnessed immeasurable success in Texas with his podcast, as well as with his rising comedy club, ‘The Comedy Mothership’.

During the conversation at his appearance on ‘Oil and Whiskey’, Rogan was asked about the real reason why he and some of his friends chose to leave California. The 55-year-old podcaster had no choice but to comply with a response.
Rogan revealed that many of his friends were dubious about his decision. He recalled a few conversations he had with them where they claimed that things would get better. However, the commentator was of the opposite belief. He simply knew that he had to move out.
Rogan said, “You know, I was like, a lot of my friends were very skeptical because I was saying early on in the pandemic, I’m like getting the f**k out of here. I mean this place is going to sh*t. And they’re like ‘it’ll be fine. It’s gonna turn around, it’s just everything’s crazy right now. I go ‘things don’t get better, man. They don’t get better under this government. They don’t get better under these people. Like they’re clamping down on rights, they’re clamping down on our ability to do things’. I’m like I’m gonna get the f**k out of here.”
Rogan is utterly impressed with Austin, Texas

After bashing California, Rogan declared that Texas always spoke to him. He praised the place for the freedom it provided. He also lifted up the people of Texas. Furthermore, he had nothing but praise for Austin.
He exclaimed, “Austin is a f*cking great town! The people are cool as hell, the food’s amazing, and it’s a great live music scene. It’s just a great place to live and for comedians.”
