The UFC’s 16th outing in London was an essential affair for the welterweight duo of Sean Brady and Leon Edwards. After all, a victory was most likely a one-way ticket to dethrone and take the division gold from Belal Muhammad. Moreover, the charged-up UK crowd must have expected a close encounter between two of the very best the division has to offer. However, the reality was pretty different! Brady beat Edwards like ‘Rocky’ owed him money. Championship aspirations aside, the one-sided mauling seemed to have a shade of animosity! Turns out that was indeed the case.
Apart from attempting a takedown in the third round, the Englishman did something even worse. He disrespected the Philly native ahead of their bout. “We did a face-off at the O2 and it literally took five seconds. But like when we did it, we walked up to each other. And obviously, bro, I’m not six foot, I’m not 6’2″. I’m 5’9″, like I’ve never been tall. When he walked up to me, he was asking me about my height. He was like ‘What are you? 5’8, 5’9?’ Like he was just being a d—head.” Brady told Ariel Helwani on his ‘MMA Hour Show’.
Things got even worse when some of Edwards’ team started grumbling about how awkward the face-off was because of the two men’s height difference. All of this disrespect made the Philly native decide to not only destroy Edwards in their UFC London clash but also to try and be as hostile to Edwards as he could. “From there on, I’m not touching this dude’s hand,” the American declared.

Indeed, Brady used this disrespect as fuel and ate Edwards, dominating him and submitting in the fourth round of their O2 Arena clash, becoming the first man to finish ‘Rocky’ in his MMA career. But this one-sided defeat apparently wasn’t enough to humble Edwards. According to Brady, the Englishman continued to be antagonistic even after the fight, rebuffing the American’s attempts to bury the hatchet.
“Personally, f–k Leon. F–k him and his whole team. That’s how I feel about the whole situation. I’m like, ‘Yo man, you’re a great champion.’ He just kind of like brushed me off. Obviously, he’s upset, but even his whole team… they were corny as s–t too, so it was just whack. He’s just salty… Then seeing all this s–t he was saying about me throughout the week… I wish I was even f—ing meaner to this dude,” Brady exclaimed. But that’s not all! Brady is not done with Edwards yet.

Sean Brady vows to continue mocking Leon Edwards
Brady is not really the trash-talking type. The Philly native idolizes the respectful and polite Georges St-Pierre and tries to follow the GOAT contender’s example. But not with Edwards. So infuriated is the American at ‘Rocky’ and his team’s disrespectful conduct throughout the fight week that he promised to actively keep disrespecting and mocking the former champion every chance he gets.
“That’s why I posted this s–t about the ‘headshot, dead’, them not having guns in London ‘cuz now I’m gonna make fun of you. I’m gonna poke at you ‘cuz you’re a f—ing a–hole,” a fired-up Brady told Helwani.

In fact, Brady started the ‘Leon Edwards disrespect’ tour right from the post-UFC London presser. “I dominated Leon, won every round,” Brady told reporters at the presser. “Nobody’s ever did it like me and then I submitted him and made him quit in front of his hometown.”

While fans are looking forward to Brady continuing his tour, the Philadelphian has more important things to think about at the moment. Like when is he getting the title shot? Champion Belal Muhammad is set to face Aussie powerhouse Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 in May. Apart from this, Shavkat Rakhmonov is almost definitely next on the title ladder.
But, maybe submitting Edwards in such a dominant fashion has changed the UFC’s mind. Maybe the Kazakh will have to wait for his shot at the gold. In which case Brady would be the clearest next title contender. What do you think about Sean Brady’s feelings about Leon Edwards?
