What’s more – this legend has also revealed his betting favorite out of the pair while also shedding light on the public opinion around the bout.

Brendan Schaub reveals the public opinion around Justin vs Dustin BMF clash

In a recent episode of The Schaub Show, renowned podcaster and former MMA artist Brendan Schaub gave his take on UFC 291. Furthermore, he also made picks for this weekend’s UFC 291 Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje 2 fight card. 

A couple of days back, ‘The Highlight’ made some bold claims about his upcoming fight and road to championship glory. But according to the 40-year-old podcaster, the real situation is quite different. 

The comic kicked off the discussion by revealing the public opinion around the BMF title clash. He emphasized that public opinion seems to favor Poirier as the better overall fighter due to several factors. He pointed out, “I think Poirier is a better overall fighter – the strength, the schedule is better. His wins at the highest level are better.”

Moreover, in his analysis, Schaub delved into the reasons why he believes ‘The Diamond’ has the edge over Gaethje. He admitted that ‘The Highlight’ has shown improvements in his fighting style and gained more control. 

But he was skeptical that Gaethje could completely shed his wild and aggressive nature. The comic further added, “I know Justin Gaethje does well – I know he’s – they say he’s a changed fighter. I don’t know if I believe that.”

Schaub picks his betting favorite

Schaub anticipates that the fight may see more grappling, with Poirier taking the initiative. According to the 40-year-old, “Dustin Poirier just does some things better. I do think we’ll get a little more grappling in this fight.” 

The Diamond’s expertise in jiu-jitsu, with a legit black belt, gives him an edge on the ground. On the other hand, Gaethje isn’t inclined towards jiu-jitsu and is not his “cup of tea.” Thus, Poirier’s ability to implement wrestling further adds to his edge in the fight.

But that’s not all! Schaub nailed it with his bold prediction for the fight, concluding, “I would say – I could see Poirier winning via submission…”
