Joe Rogan spoke with Matt Taibbi on JRE #1940 and spoke about the platform he releases his podcasts on itself. The UFC commentator spoke highly of Spotify. Moreover, he even revealed some major losses that Apple Podcasts incur owing to a ‘giant f*ck up’.
The former Fear Factor host spoke about incentives for content creators on Apple’s platform. He said, “No incentive for the people to have their podcast only on iTunes. One of the things that iTunes does its like a tremendous blunder. My opinion is, they never figured out a way to monetize podcast. So they act as an aggregator for podcast but they never make any money off of it which is nuts… It’s f*****g nuts!”
Moreover, he added that Spotify makes billions of dollars off the same business line. Rogan also mentioned that Apple does not make any money from podcasts and merely acts as a distributor. He further said that he knew about this in a meeting before he joined Spotify. The UFC commentator further went on to explain, “Its a giant f*ck up”.
