Following her retirement from the world of mixed martial arts in 2016, followed by a stint in WWE where she was even a Women’s Triple Crown Champion, Ronda Rousey has released a couple of books highlighting her time in the fighting realm. With creative writing slowly becoming her new area of expertise, Rousey probably wanted a way back into the world of martial arts. Only a few weeks ago, Ronda Rousey revealed that she had written a graphic novel, “Expecting the Unexpected”, which she was releasing to the public through her Kickstarter page. The exclusive MMA lessons for 10 selected participants were part of the Kickstarter campaign for the graphic novel. However, the announcement did not have the kind of effect that the UFC Hall of Famer would have hoped for.

Fans quickly began to speculate about the potential financial issues that the couple may be facing. As Ronda Rousey’s words found their way to Instagram, the fans took over the comments section to express themselves.

One fan blurted out, “They need money.” While another few speculated that the couple’s money was depleting, with one writing, “Them funds running low for them”.

Notably, Rousey made around $13 million dollars during her seven-fight long UFC stint, as per UFC lawsuit documents released last year. While she pocketed $574,720 in her fight against Liz Carmouche in 2013—in the company’s first-ever women’s fight—defending her Bantamweight Championship title, her clash with Miesha Tate, that same year, made her $1,817,907 richer. On the other hand, she made $870,969, $1,063,688, $1,458,282, $2,642,204, $4,476,662/$4,536,932, $4,879,766 against Sara McMann, Alexis Davis, Cat Zingano, Bethe Correia, Holly Holm, and Amanda Nunes, respectively.

Yet, one follower was left wondering if, “Ronda’s money is drying up.” Meanwhile, another similar comment read, “R they financially struggling??” As for Rousey’s sporadic stint with the WWE between 2014 to 2023, she reportedly had a salary of $1.5 million—$2.1 million if count bonuses and merchandise sales.

But, despite having a net worth over $14 million, many guessed the couple’s expensive lifestyle was to blame. One of them speculated, “They must have really expensive lifestyles lol.” But a few others added that judging from the captions, the cost of the classes would probably be pretty high. Weighing in on this, a fan wrote, I bet they’re charging something outrageous, any know?”

Rousey launched the Kickstarter campaign to fund her upcoming novel. Fans can pledge anywhere between $20 to $2,500 dollars, with perks depending on the amount assured. While $20 dollars will get you a digital edition only, a $2,500 donation guarantees you a “GET DRAWN IN ASSASSIN EDITION” for 10 lucky winners. This means some fans will have the chance to get featured in the book!
