UFC 284 just took a major setback as one of Australia’s favorite fighters will not be featuring in it. The rumors turned out to be true as the fight between Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa has been canceled. Owing to the cancellation of the fight, Whittaker’s title aspirations have also seriously taken a dent. ‘The Reaper’ shared this disappointing news with the fans on Twitter. The former middleweight champion also revealed information about Paulo Costa and what happened between him and UFC. Whittaker also promised the fans an exciting fight soon.
Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa bout canceled
Robert Whittaker’s fight with Paulo Costa appears to be canceled altogether, as ‘Borachinha’ and the UFC do not agree on a contract. This is more upsetting since the fight was supposed to happen in ‘The Reaper’s homeland in Australia.

On his birthday, Whittaker took to Twitter to share his video. A clearly upset Robert Whittaker said, “It’s really upsetting to say that they’re true. The fight with Costa has fallen apart.”
Furthermore, he added, “UFC tried everything in their power to get him to the fight. They gave him the new contract from what I understand to take the fight. But he still didn’t take the fight. The Perth fight is not happening. They are looking to reschedule me March/April and this is very upsetting. This is very upsetting.”
While addressing his fans, the former middleweight champion added, “I am sorry to all the friends, fans, and family that are heading over there to watch me to do work. And it’s out of my hands. I’m upset I was prepared to train through Christmas, to train through New Years, to put in the work.”
Whittaker promises the fans to see them in Perth

Although ‘The Reaper’ looked upset about not participating in UFC 284 in Perth, he promised the fans that he might still be there in the event. He looks to be in Perth to meet the fans to do a Q&A or shadowboxing in a park or somewhere. Whittaker also said to expect his presence amongst fans as he looks to cheer the other fighters on the card.
The former middleweight champion also added that he looks to celebrate his birthday after the video. Besides, Whittaker also promised to train ‘like a demon’ and get in there with the next fighter.

The news of the canceled fight is very upsetting for the fans as it is to Whittaker. Fans hope to see ‘The Reaper’ back in the cage soon as he looks to regain his middleweight crown. Israel Adesanya’s defeat to Alex Pereira provided this opportunity for ‘The Reaper.’
