With over a $21 million budget, UFC Sphere became one of the most expensive combat sports events in the history of the sport. When Dana White initially announced the event, there was a bit of skepticism as the MMA community believed that the UFC CEO was burning the promotion’s cash reserve. However, as the event unfolded, everyone was mesmerized by the glamorous visuals and the fights.

Interestingly, while having a conversation on Good Guy/Bad Guy, Chael Sonnen emphasized that the event was such a masterclass that even the biggest Dana White critics came to witness the fight even though they had nothing to do with MMA, “I saw politicians there. I passed right by Lori Dreamer. Chavez. I’m looking around; she didn’t have security with her, flew in on her own dime, and had a ticket. She was just such a fan. And Daniel, the other part of this, when you talk about the Who’s Who and the names, a lot of people from Hollywood came,” said Sonnen.

He further added that some people came to witness White’s failure but the exact opposite happened for them, “They did not just come to take in history and because they’re secretly big fight fans. They came out to watch Dana White fail. There were not very many people that are executive producers, and now you’re asked to do something live with a technology that only a few people had even tried. And by the way, never live. They are saying, “You can’t do it, Dana. You don’t have enough time.” He did do it. He did do it.”

That’s not all, as UFC Sphere broke the record of the biggest-ever merchandise sales with several ever new items debuting at the event. Regardless, the UFC CEO is happy with the immense success of the event but will the UFC hold another event at the Sphere ever again? Well, let us find out.

There won’t be another event like UFC Sphere

Despite such a sparkling event, Dana White might never return to the Sphere as the promotion has already decided the fate of their upcoming events. One might think that the promotion might not return to the venue because it cut deep into UFC’s pockets but the reality is much different. While having a conversation with the media, White asserted that it was because of MGM.

“No, I’m under contract with MGM.I told you guys leading up to this, the way that this whole thing played out, tonight was meant to happen. It happened, we did it, we killed it … I have literally been getting blown up by everybody about this event. The other thing we did was that it translated well onto television, too. People felt like it was a different experience than they get on a normal Saturday night for a UFC event,” said Dana White.

The UFC CEO may return to the Sphere once the MGM deal goes smoothly but when it will happen is a mystery for the MMA fans. Regardless, what’s your take on UFC Sphere? State your thoughts in the comments below.
