In a recent conversation on the Anik & Florian Podcast, Jon Anik gave his two cents on the aftermath of the UFC 292 PPV in Boston. He kicked off the discussions, highlighting ‘Aljo’s post-fight confessions.

Quoting the ‘Funkmaster,’ Anik revealed, “He[Sterling] said in the post fight presser that his footwork and lateral movement – that of O’Malley, were two things that he was under prepared for and that surprised him.”

According to Anik, Sterling confessed to being under-prepared for these facets of O’Malley’s game, which took him by surprise. However, as the conversation progressed, the UFC commentator recounted his colleague Joe Rogan’s words of praise for ‘Aljo.’ He shared an intriguing perspective from his co-commentator Joe Rogan. The JRE host, known for his insightful analysis, had lauded Aljamain Sterling as “the best weight cutter” in the sport.

Reflecting on this praise from the JRE host, Anik emphasized the criticality of ‘Aljo’s weight management. He noted that there is zero room for error when it comes to making the 135-pound limit. Likewise, Anik added,

“There’s no margin of error for Aljamain Sterling. He likes to have a drink or two, but when it comes to making 135 pounds – there’s no margin of error for this man. [He] had to make it twice in 15 weeks – a lot of different factors here.”

However, Anik expressed his bewilderment over the prevailing skepticism surrounding Sean O’Malley. He questioned why factors like O’Malley’s cannabis use and facial tattoos seem to overshadow his undeniable skills in the Octagon. Arguing his POV, Anik quizzed, “But I just don’t quite understand – what is it – that he[O’Malley] smokes w**d? that he has facial tattoos? Like – what is it going to take for people to – you know, give Sean O’Malley his flowers and understand just how critical time and space is when you fight him…”
