The UFC Light Heavyweight division title has been the victim of an unexpected number of title relinquishments. First, it was Jon Jones who vacated the belt, citing disagreements over salary negotiations. Then it was Jiri Prochazka, who vacated the belt after a serious injury to his shoulder. And ironically enough, the most recent title holder, Jamahal Hill, also had to vacate the title on July 14, 2023, due to an Achilles tendon rupture.

But all hope’s not lost! – Prochazka is back with some good news, almost 8 months after relinquishing his title. In a recent interview with a renowned MMA journalist, the former champ sat down to share some intriguing updates about his recovery. And from the looks of it, we may see the ‘Czech Samurai’ back in action in the near future.

In a recent discussion with Ariel Helwani, the 30-year-old shed light on his recent training adventures. He’s in Thailand at the moment and is undergoing training and rehabilitating his injury. Helwani kicks off the interview by asking Prochazka about his recovery progress and training endeavors in Thailand. The former champ had some positive updates on his road to recovery.

Replying to Helwani, the Czech Samurai added, “This camp is directed to try my body in full power – especially the shoulder.” Moreover, he is working alongside sparring partners like the renowned Hickman Brothers – to refine his techniques, focusing particularly on wrestling.

When asked about his shoulder’s condition, Prochazka expressed utmost satisfaction, stating that it now feels like a superpower. The former champ elaborated on the progress he has made, highlighting a remarkable development in his shoulder’s strength. He further added, “Shoulder feeling right now is 100 percent.” He also revealed that for the last five years, he had been missing around five crucial muscles, stating,

“I feel it like it’s a superpower now because I have to work with four-five new muscles what I have [now] because last five years there were like five muscles missing.”
