In a highly anticipated confrontation on the grand stage of UFC Paris, Ciryl Gane emerged triumphant over Sergey Spivak, firmly cementing his stature as a preeminent heavyweight contender. Gane, competing on his native soil for the second consecutive year, exhibited his mastery in an exhilarating clash that boasted the presence of British UFC luminary Tom Aspinall. With this resounding victory, Gane now sets his sights on the prospect of securing a championship opportunity in the fiercely cutthroat realm of the heavyweight division, where ‘the bones’ Jon Jones reigns supreme as one of the paramount figures in the pound-for-pound hierarchy.
In a recent interview with The MCLife, Tom Aspinall expressed his desire to face Ciryl Gane and provided insight into his current fighting status. He also discussed their interactions throughout the week. Aspinall mentioned that Gane delivered a fantastic performance and appeared in great form during the event. Furthermore, he expressed his willingness to take on any opponent.

The 30-year-old British heavyweight fighter recently was cage-side to witness the fight between Ciryl Gane and Sergey Spivak. In a recent interview with TheMacLife YouTube channel, when asked about his thoughts on the fight and his desire to fight the winner, Aspinall responded: yeah I’m not a bully do you know what I mean if he doesn’t want the fight I’m not going to try and force it on him”.
He contemplated further that he wanted to compete in the cage, but the UFC remained adamant about not letting him participate. He further asserted that he would be a challenging matchup for the winner of Gane-Spivak’s bout, but he still loves the idea of fighting him (Gane) if given the opportunity. Aspinall stated, “I wanted to go in the cage but the UFC didn’t want me to go in the cage yeah if he wants the fight is here if he doesn’t want the fight see I know that I’m a bad matchup for him I think that uh statistically it’s a good matchup for me but if he doesn’t want it then I understand”.
In July, Aspinall made a triumphant return to the octagon after a year-long hiatus due to a severe knee injury. He marked his comeback by swiftly dispatching Marcin Tybura in the very first round. Aspinall wasted no time in expressing his ambition of squaring off against the victor of the impending Gane versus Spivak showdown. His intention? To stake his claim for a coveted title shot against none other than Jon Jones himself.

In the entire interview, Aspinall made his intention clear that he would fight anyone in order to get close to the title fight. I was supposed to fight him two times before the fights didn’t happen for whatever reason and uh yeah let’s do it let’s do it man like I’m happy to fight anyone that gets me close to the title “.
