Ian Garry emerged triumphant at UFC 292 against Neil Magny. However, prior to the fight, the Irishman took a novel decision to hold an open workout session in an Irish pub in an attempt to connect with his fans. In an interview with ‘Full Send MMA’, ‘The Future’ mentioned that he would love to bring the same kind of energy that he brought at the local pub in Boston prior to UFC 292. However, as he was getting ready for the workout session in the pub, the authorities approached him and his team. Ian Garry said, “The policeman on shift came up to us beforehand. He said to my team when they were checking the barrow.”
Furthermore, an officer warned him not to step outside of the pub and showcase his skills. That would have resulted in an arrest. “He said, ‘If he steps outside on the streets and hits pads, I’m gonna arrest him and put them in jail overnight because of a riot law.'”
However, he did not hate the idea of getting arrested.
‘The Future’ believes getting arrested would have been great media
Ian Garry mentioned that he liked the idea of getting arrested to garner media attention. He said, “I was like sat there going, ‘F*** man, that’d be good media. That’ll be gold media.'” The arrest would have pumped up the fans to see him fight. But there was a catch. Garry was not a local.

The Irishman would have loved to get that media attention, but was worried that he might lose his visa. That prompted him to consider a different option and refrain from getting into trouble. “I thought that’d be genius but I need to keep my visa. I can’t be doing stupid sh*t,” Ian Garry stated.
