UFC Fight Night 224, London offered a glimpse into what the future holds for the heavyweight division. As UFC ditched the Apex and moved its caravan to England’s capital, the fans filled The O2 Arena on July 22 and enjoyed the high-paced action. Fireworks were anticipated due to the stacked fights lined up. Besides, the Saturday night event gave fans a probable answer to who is next in line at UFC’s heavyweight division.
The headliner between Tom Aspinall and Marcin Tybura proved to be a banger of the fight. While the crowd favorite, Aspinall, was coming off a heartbreaking loss, he targeted a return to the winner’s column. On the other hand, the Polish fighter came into the fight on the heels of a two-win streak. A win for either superstar meant pushing his name into the domain of a title fight. But the Brit fighter buried the ghosts of the last fight when his knee exploded as he was on the cusp of being the next in the line. However, he soon made sure that this Fight Night would be different.

The #5 ranked heavyweight made quick work of his opponent and won the fight via knockout in the first round.
What happened in the fight at the UFC London?
Aspinall assumed the aggressor’s role and banked on his quickness to get the job done. He also threatened to finish the fight early. The 30-year-old caught Tybura with a right elbow, followed by a left hook, and then a right jab. His explosive power dropped his opponent to the mat. He punctured holes in Tybura’s defense with his explosive punches and unleashed a barrage of punches as ‘Tybur’ lay on the flood helpless. The referee had to intervene and he called off the fight at a mere 1:13 into the fight.
In the post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, the Team Kaobon gym representative declared, “I wasn’t the same last year”. He mentioned his mindset was different.
Further, he announced he had planned a visit to Paris in September to watch the fight between Ciryl Gane and Sergey Spivak and defeat the winner. In addition, he expressed, “I’m gonna beat Jon Jones”.
Aspinall not only left the crowd and commentators impressed with his calm and collected demeanor but also the UFC President Dana White. The UFC lynchpin turned to his Instagram handle and captioned, “@tomaspinallofficial looked DAMN GOOD tonight #UFCLondon”.

no wonder jon says he will retire after the dead corpse of stipe

Since we know Bones won’t fight him, let’s see Tom vs Gane or Pavlovich next. Other than maybe Blaydes, there’s nobody else in the division that can give Tom a run. He reminds me a lot of Gane, moves around like he’s 170-185, but with more power than Cyril.
