After the fight against Teixeira at UFC 275, Prochazka earned the respect of fighters and fight fans all across the globe. Despite his reputation, the Irishman isn’t usually known for handing out compliments. However, in this particular situation, he showered the Czech with praise.

Conor McGregor acknowledged Prochazka for winning the gold after a fight that was considered the fight of the year 2022. Upon returning home to the Czech Republic, there were about 7000 people who were present to welcome the champ back home.

McGregor in his tweet wrote, “Paradigm’s Sports NEWEST! And the Czech Republic’s FIRST! UFC World Champion! The indomitable samurai, (Jiri) What a fight! What a performance! Huge congrats”

McGregor’s tweet may have felt out of character, especially at the time. However, in recent times, he has been known to share a lot more kinder words with people. Interestingly, both athletes are on their way back from serious injuries. As McGregor awaits a return date after his UFC 264 leg break, Prochazka beat his shoulder injury to make his way to UFC 295.

The injury that Prochazka suffered training ahead of his rematch with Glover Teixeira was really bad. Dana White even confirmed that it was “the worst” shoulder injury that UFC doctors had seen. But the Czech Samurai’s recovery had other plans.

Just as quick as Prochazka took to win UFC gold in the promotion, his recovery did the same. Prochazka displayed exceptional sportsmanship, vacating his title. So it only feels fair that his return will be for the vacant UFC Light-heavyweight strap.
