Mark Zuckerberg on Donald Trump’s role in business and law

During his conversation with Joe Rogan, Mark Zuckerberg shared his thoughts on the potential benefits of President-elect Donald Trump’s leadership for American businesses. He described the tech sector as a “bright spot” in the nation’s economy and expressed optimism about Trump’s approach. “And it’s one of the things that I’m optimistic about with President Trump is, I think he just wants America to win,” Zuckerberg said on JRE #2255.

He emphasized the need for government protection of America’s tech industry abroad to ensure its continued strength. Zuckerberg remained hopeful that Trump would provide the necessary support. The Meta CEO further stated, “And I think some of the stuff in the other governments who are kind of pushing on this stuff. You know it’s like at least the US has the rule of law right so the government can come after you for something but you still get your day in court.”

This episode aired on YouTube just days after Meta made significant changes to its content moderation policies, replacing third-party fact-checkers with a community notes system similar to the approach used on Elon Musk’s X. The president-elect praised these changes, claiming they were in response to the threats he had previously directed at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

However, that wasn’t the only topic of discussion. In a surprising move, Zuckerberg revealed that UFC CEO Dana White, a known ally of Trump, had been appointed to Meta’s board, signaling an unexpected collaboration between the worlds of technology and combat sports.

Zuckerberg on why Dana White was added to Meta’s board

Mark Zuckerberg shared his reasoning behind appointing UFC CEO Dana White to Meta’s board during his conversation with Joe Rogan. He praised White’s remarkable achievements and the transformative impact he’s had on the UFC. “Dana [White] is like this guy who, I mean, he took the sport from being… this pretty marginal thing… and now it’s like, I think it [UFC] and F1 are the two fastest growing sports in the world. It’s got hundreds of millions of people viewing it,” Zuckerberg said.

The tech titan highlighted White’s business acumen and credited him for building the UFC into a billion-dollar empire over the past three decades. According to Zuckerberg, it was White’s blunt leadership style and resilience under pressure that made him an ideal addition to Meta’s board.

“And I think part of what the conversation that I had with him around joining our board was, ‘okay, like, we have a lot of governments and folks around the world putting a lot of pressure on our company, and like, we need some strong people who are going to help advise us on how to handle some of these situations,” he explained.
