“The Best and Worst Experience”: Behind the Scene Developments at Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler TUF 31 Revealed by Ex-Ultimate Fighter Star

‘The Ultimate Fighter’ reality show has opened the doors for many aspiring UFC fighters. This season, in particular, has made a lot of waves due to the inclusion of Conor McGregor. However, former TUF contestant Gillian Robertson opened up about the daily routine that she derived from one of the contestants from the current season of the show.

Strawweight star Gillian Robertson was a contestant in the 26th season of TUF. Although she didn’t win the competition, she was successful in landing a contract with the world’s biggest MMA promotion. Robertson recently revealed how contestants kill time when they are not training or fighting each other.

During her appearance on the ‘JRE MMA Show’ #140, Gillian Robertson mentioned that fighters can’t carry anything when they’re in competition. They aren’t allowed to use phones or watch television, and there is no provision for listening to music. Moreover, the contestants aren’t even allowed to read books. When Robertson had a conversation with a contestant from the current season of TUF, he revealed his feelings while competing in the reality show.

“I was just talking to one of the boys, who’s actually on the Conor McGregor season, over the weekend. He said the exact same thing as me,” said Robertson. She mentioned that the competitor claimed to have had a bittersweet experience. “He’s like, ‘It was the best and worst experience of my life.'” 

The reason behind the bittersweet experience is the limited number of things they can do apart from fighting. ‘The Savage’ said, “Because it’s like, when you’re in the gym, there are so many highs and so great [that when] you go back to the house, it’s just sitting there for hours, you’re bored and it sucks.”

Gillian Robertson mentioned that the TUF house includes certain amenities to kill time. In addition to that, they are also allowed to order certain board games for entertainment. “I think they had a pool table and a chess table.” She added, “And then they have the list where you can order anything.” She claimed that these are the only means to get rid of boredom while staying at the TUF house.

Gillian Robertson mentioned the awkwardness she felt while being at the TUF house with several other competitors who she doesn’t know. It was her first time leaving home, but she cherishes the experience.

The first episode of TUF 31 was an exciting show of what is to come in future episodes. Although Conor McGregor’s team suffered their first loss, they are determined to bounce back sooner rather than later.
