Joe Rogan has a lot to chuckle about after the 2024 presidential election results were announced. After all, Donald Trump, whom he endorsed, won against Democrat candidate Kamala Harris. This truly was an unexpected result that went against almost every exit poll being broadcast on news outlets such as CNN and MSNBC. And now, the major players in the $649 billion-worth media and entertainment industry are paying the price for it.

The UFC commentator has never been a big fan of either channel, often calling them out for spreading misinformation. But even he wasn’t prepared for the recent statistics that reveal the impending demise of the news outlets. On a recent edition of his Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan came across several news pieces that showed the huge decline in viewership for the channels. Something that truly stunned the podcaster.

On JRE #2231, Rogan first began by talking about the claims of CNN’s ratings going down by as much as 80% of their peak, while MSNBC too suffered a similar fate. A situation that, according to Rogan, will lead to mass layoffs. “They’re both on the chopping block. CNN is talking about mass layoffs of talent because nobody believes them anymore.” But why is all this happening? According to Rogan, the two channels have lost their credibility, and it is the root cause of their impending doom. “That’s unacceptable if you’re the voice of the news in the world. It’s unacceptable for a large percentage of what you’re saying to be completely full of s–t.”

Rogan further revealed more details in the episode, like breaking down the audience ratings of The Rachel Maddow Show, a top show for MSNBC. The show airs only once a week, and it saw a major decline of 1 million viewers. According to sources, only 1.3 million viewers watched the November 10th edition of the show, five days after the election. In the key 25 to 54 demographic, Maddow’s numbers marked the smallest audience her show has seen since April 2022. This made the UFC commentator compare it to his podcast audience: “And she’s the number one show, which is like, you know, if I only got a million people watching the show, I’d be so pi–ed.”

MSNBC has suffered a major decline. On November 11th, the week after the elections, MSNBC received its lowest 25 to 54 demo rating in 23 years. CNN reported that the demo figure was the lowest it had been since June 27th, 2000, when Bill Clinton was president. Fox News had an average of 2.23 million viewers from November 6th to 13th, while MSNBC had just 550,000 and CNN had only 399,000. Well, it looks like the two news channels have major thinking to do, while Joe Rogan would be trying to pinch himself after seeing the stunning numbers. However, it is tough to predict if he would be sad or really happy about it since he has had a prior beef with CNN.

Joe Rogan calls out CNN after the late-night debacle

Are CNN and MSNBC's struggles proof that audiences are fed up with biased reporting?

A few months ago, Joe Rogan made the key allegation that CNN had a reputation for being “full of s—“ when a phrase on late-night television regarding the network’s unbiased reporting was misinterpreted as a joke by the live audience. On an episode of his Joe Rogan Experience with Adam Ray, Rogan discussed “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert’s off-the-cuff statement about CNN being “objective” during his interview with network anchor Kaitlan Collins.

Despite Colbert’s admission that the phrase was not intended as a joke, the audience couldn’t help but laugh. This made Rogan call out the channel for this major debacle. “How crazy is that? The audience is like, Shut the f— up. That is hilarious. They thought he was being a joker. They thought that was a joke. That’s how crazy this world has gotten, where f—-ng CNN being unbiased is a joke to people in the audience. That’s so crazy.”

And now, with the major drop in ratings, Rogan would be glad that his point was being proven right by the audience. With Fox News continuing to dominate the ratings, it remains to be seen how MSNBC and CNN will respond to this crisis and attempt to regain their audience’s trust. But what do you think? What led to this major downfall? Let us know in the comments.
