Situations can escalate in mere seconds in the combat sports world. Combat sports thrive on altercations and heated arguments. The situation becomes more volatile in MMA due to the fighters with brash personas and the marketability of the fights. Sometimes the soaring tensions spill outside the cage and that sight might take an ugly turn.

The same was on display when a viral video made rounds on the internet. The video, seemingly from Russia’s Hardcore MMA circuit, worried the fans when a fighter on the stage got hold of his fellow MMA fighter and choked him to sleep. Eventually, security had to intervene to break off the shocking scenes.

Notably, the video was from a pre-fight interview, and amidst banter, one fighter didn’t wait to step inside the cage to settle his grudge. While the exact reason for what tipped him off can only be inferred, the threatening assault outside the cage didn’t sit well with the fans.

How did the MMA fans react to the concerning clip?

Some fans believed the perpetrator deserved jail time for his assault, others had a laugh at the Russian MMA promotions.

One fan urged to “keep that unprofessional sh*t over there”.

On the other hand, another fan called it a “dirty move.” They said, “How is that supposed to make people respect or fear that guy? Just a dirty weak move right here.”

A comment read, “He just assaulted the man haha”.

Someone pondered, “fighter but crosses his feet when he’s got someone’s back?”

An MMA fan argued, “hey should be charged for attempted murder”.

Likewise, a user asserted, “That’s jail time surely 😂😂”.

“That fool needs to be in jail,” another fan announced.

Another comment asserted, “Russia mma scene is trash. 😂”.

Taking a clue from the ugly scenes, a fan concluded, “And this is why russia is a joke”.

Lastly, someone declared, “Should have paid attention to Wu Tang’s slogan “Protect your neck”.”

This is not the first time when press conferences have been part of spilled brawls and even the UFC is not untouched by those. UFC called off its traditional press conference at UFC 279 when the brawl between Kevin Holland and Khamzat Chimaev kicked things off. Soon, more fighters joined the fray, and the flying bottles occupied the horizon.

With not enough security to contain the fighters, UFC President Dana White took the unprecedented decision and canceled the press conference.
