Dana White's streaming saga: Hypocrisy or just a misunderstood UFC boss having fun?

If there’s one thing Dana White hates more than nosey journalists, it’s illegal UFC streams. The UFC president has stated on many occasions that he goes after illegal streamers with the threat of prosecution. When the UFC head honcho himself suggested that he might have illegally streamed the recently concluded BKFC on DAZN: Tenaglia vs. Soto, it came as a surprise to many fans.

At Tuesday’s DWCS episode 76 press conference, White was asked whether he watched the fight between MMA media personalities Oscar Willis and Ben Davis. Here’s what he said, “After I talked to you guys that day, I moved my schedule around that morning so that I could watch it. And then they moved the fight. So it sc**wed my whole thing up. I won’t tell you how I watched it, but I watched it.”

This particular moment gained so much traction that part-owner of BKFC, Conor McGregor, chimed in saying that Dana White did not illegally stream the fight. ‘The Notorious’ defended the UFC president by posting the following on X (formerly Twitter), Dana did not stream bkfc! He watched in great enjoyment and amusement alongside Kevin Iole, who had our card on! Fighting connoisseurs enjoying some Bare Knuckle Fighting action! F******g AWESOME!”

It can be safely assumed that Conor McGregor and Dana White are in a mutually beneficial agreement, at least in the public eye. We’ve never seen either party openly bash or denigrate one another, even if differences might exist behind closed doors. The Irishman recently became part-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, or BKFC, and has been doing a Dana White-like role for the promotion. The 36-year-old seemed to be in high spirits at the recently concluded BKFC event in Spain.

The event had Oscar Willis, who works for McGregor at ‘The Mac Life’ face off against fight commentator Ben Davis in a lightweight bout. Willis shared a post about White’s comments on Instagram, and fans had a few choice words for the UFC CEO’s seeming double standards.

“It’s ok for Dana to stream it, not you” – Fans hilariously react to rumours of Dana White streaming BKFC

Dana White's streaming saga: Hypocrisy or just a misunderstood UFC boss having fun?

Have an interesting take?

Dana White has publicly gone on record multiple times to condemn people who illegally stream UFC events. The UFC head honcho has explicitly stated, “We go after piracy hard, and you saw a few years ago, we started prosecuting people.”

So it was no surprise fans were quick to troll the UFC president, given his stance on illegal streamers. Reacting sharply to Dana White’s own words, a fan wrote the following, “The amount he goes in on illegal streamers then says that”. One fan pointed to illegal streams being banned for common folk with, “It’s ok for Dana to stream it, not you”.

Another fan doubled down brutally with an extremely sarcastic comment saying, “So glad he’s going after those dirty, filthy illegal streamers with the fullest extent if the law. Very honorable, if you ask me.” One fan hilariously showed solidarity with the UFC president, even name-dropping a streaming website, with, “Bro methstreamed that s**t just like the rest of us do with his fights”. One user sarcastically said that White wouldn’t do such thing since it involves federal prison time, with, “Dana would never, that’s federal prison time!”. One fan evoked the infamous Dana White comments that has become the stuff of meme legends, “That’s f*****g illegal”.

Atop of the comments section is Dana White’s comment, “I absolutely did not stream it”; adding more fuel to the speculation. While White did not comment on how he watched the fight, he did praise Oscar Willis for his dominant performance which resulted in a TKO victory.
