An early prelims card fight involving Jai Herbert and Ludovit Klein stole the limelight at UFC 286, headlined by the grudge fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman. While the stacked card offered fans exciting and high-paced action, it also promised fighters the chance to move upwards in the ranks and also a shot at returning to the winner’s column. Further, O2 Arena on March 18 became the venue for closely contested fights. While both the fighters fought and fought valiantly till the last bell, a controversial point deduction raised eyebrows.

Notably, the point deduction due to a second low blow landed by the British fighter changed the outcome of the fight and it was declared a majority draw.
What happened in the fight at UFC 286?
In the first round, ‘Mr. Highlight’ while going in for the takedown, got caught lacking and faced the full brunt of a brutal kick from the Brit. The kick opened up Klein‘s eyes, and the blood sprouted out of it. Further, Herbert followed up with a critical knee in the first round, which only added to the damage. Thus, Klein fought with a glaring scare and blood flowing from his temple. However, the 28-year-old’s grappling skills and substantial control time gave him an edge.
In the second round, both the fighters clashed and appeared on equal footing. While the Renegade Jiu-Jitsu representative threw up the kicks and well-crafted combo, the cut on the Spartakus Fight Gym representative opened up in the second round, too. Thus, both the fighters fought a close contesting fight. But the British fighter appeared to claim round 2.
In the final round, the Slovakian fighter stuck to his strategy of throwing up high kicks and following up with a combination of punches. However, in the heated round, Herbert threw a low blow. After a brief cooling period, Klein pushed the peddle on pressure and landed thunderous punches. Despite this explosive outburst, ‘Black Country Banger’ again landed a low blow and was slapped with a point deduction. Alarmed by the possibility, Herbert switched gears and adopted the ground-and-pound approach, and landed substantial damage.
Michael Bisping, on the commentator’s table, had a different take on the point deduction. Similarly, the fans also stretched their head over the deduction.
