Every time Dustin Poirier sets his foot in the octagon, he makes sure that his opponent has a hard time. Poirier, with his sheer determination, has made sure that he achieved the interim UFC lightweight championship. ‘The Diamond’ has defeated great UFC stars like Conor McGregor, Dan Hooker, and Max Holloway, among many others.
His last victory was against three-time Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler. Chandler had no choice but to submit to the rear-naked choke of Poirier in round three. Despite securing the interim crown, ‘The Diamond’ is unlikely to rest on his laurels as he looks to secure the lightweight title from Islam Makhachev. After his last fight in November 2022, no opponent is booked against Poirier. Nonetheless, through his Twitter handle, the American fighter has expressed that he can’t wait for his next bout.
