When you think of rivalries that changed the face of the UFC forever, only a handful come to mind. Jon Jones and his rivalry with UFC commentator Daniel Cormier was legendary. However, the most gritty, fast-paced, and hot beef that the UFC fans witnessed was the boiling-hot rivalry between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
There was a huge hype to the fight and to this day, is etched in the history books as the biggest and the most profitable main event of the UFC ever. Although The Irishman talked the talk and managed to get under Nuramgomedov’s skin a couple of times, on the day of the fight, ‘The Eagle’ forced him to submit. McGregor was never the same and his latest Netflix documentary does give a lot of importance to this fight. And now, it seems another documentary is in the making.

The undefeated former Lightweight fighter joined UFC president Dana White‘s Instagram live session and dropped some major news for the fans. “Right now… right now I’m working on… with your people. You send here like 25 camera. About that documentary.”, started Nurmagomedov. White seemed surprised but excited. “Oh… alright. We doing this sh*t or what are we doing? We doing it?”, he asked.
“Yes. I’m working on this. Like last 5 days like… it’s very busy, you know. Even now, these people waiting for me,”, replied ‘The Eagle’ smiling and enjoying Dana White’s astonished reaction a little. The UFC President sat up upon hearing this and cut straight to the point with his next question. “So you’re in?”. “Yes, I’m in.”, replied Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The UFC president seemed like he was over the moon when the former fighter confirmed it. “Ahhh! You heard it here first, ladies and gentlemen. We’re doing a documentary on – on Khabib.”, said White to the fans. Although Conor McGregor beat him to it (making the documentary first), it seems Khabib Nurmagomedov is also willing to tell his story. “I think this year… this year gonna be very busy. And next year… like around like – about like Summer, is gonna be like one of the best documentary.”, concluded Nurmagomedov.

When Nurmagomedov’s father passed away, ‘The Eagle’ decided to walk away from the sport – and he did. His last fight was against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. He won his last UFC fight that night. Since then, fans have always wondered if he would be coming back to make his record a neat 30-0-0. However, Khabib Nurmagomedov has no plans of returning and he made that abundantly clear. As he recently disclosed, one of his primary reasons for sticking to his decision is because of the promise he made to his mother.
However, the former Lightweight champion is still very close to the game. He helps his cousins with their training process. Umar Nurmagomedov, who is an undefeated Bantamweight fighter in the UFC is often mentored and coached by ‘The Eagle’. Besides, he is also the mentor to Islam Makhachev his torch-bearer in the UFC and the current Lightweight champ.

Therefore, fans need not be disheartened. Nurmagomedov hasn’t gone too far from the sport. In fact, there are rumors that he might be ringside at Makhachev’s fight against Charles Oliveira in Abu Dhabi. It would be great to see one of the most dominant UFC fighters mentor and groom the future generation to ‘take over’.
