UFC president Dana White presented Colby Covington with the opportunity to compete for the welterweight title against Leon Edwards. However, there were a lot of people who suggested that Belal Muhammad should have been awarded that fighter. But the 53-year-old promoter had other plans in mind for ‘Remember The Name’ as he will go head to head against Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Dana White revealed that the UFC was working towards setting up a fight between Rakhmonov and Muhammad. He is determined to make the fight happen, which will nonetheless be one of the best welterweight bouts of the year.

Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov are riding on undefeated streaks

Belal Muhammad has amassed an impressive record of 22 wins and 3 losses in his MMA career. He may have lost his 3 MMA fights in the UFC but has racked up a 4-fight winning streak since 2021. There are many claims that he should have been the one to fight Leon Edwards next. But Dana White believes Muhammad should wait for a little more for that opportunity.

Shavkat Rakhmonov, on the other hand, is undefeated in his professional MMA career. He has 17 wins to his name, of which five have come from his UFC bouts. He is revered as one of the most exciting yet dangerous fighters in the UFC’s welterweight division. Rakhmonov is sure to give Belal Muhammad a run for his money.
