The MMA community was uncertain about Francis Ngannou and where he’d be heading to fight after leaving the UFC. After unsuccessful negotiations with several promotions, ‘The Predator’ signed with the PFL. He recently appeared in an interview with ‘TMZ’ and highlighted the best part about his contract with the rising MMA promotion.

Francis Ngannou had several options after leaving the UFC. Promotions like Bellator and ONE Championship were all rumored to have approached the French-Cameroonian fighter to join their company. But some sources claimed that Bellator never submitted any deal and the Singaporean-based promotion withdrew from their pursuit of Ngannou due to some disagreements regarding the deal.

Francis Ngannou highlights the best part about his PFL contract

The former UFC champion was full of emotions when his PFL announcement came to light. It had been over four months of inactivity and uncertainty, but Ngannou finally got what he wanted. He revealed that the most important clause in his contract was being the chairman of PFL’s new expansion into the African continent.

Ngannou said, “We have PFL Africa. I don’t know if you understand what we talking about here.” He added that he was working to get this opportunity many times in the past. The new PFL signee said, “I don’t know if you understand how many times I wished my life, made out there in the ocean to get this opportunity.”

Ngannou explained the intricacies of PFL Africa and revealed his urge to help people back home. “We are taking it home to give some people [and] avoid them to take all those risks [involved in other promotions],” said the former UFC champion.

‘The Predator’ claims that it was never about money

Francis Ngannou understands that the PFL Africa is not about money, but about promoting fighters and their interests. It adds a lot of value to his association with promotion. He said, “That [PFL Africa] might not be money, but this has a lot of value. It is the most valuable thing in this contract.”

He mentioned how the PFL brass aligned with his ideology, which compelled him to accept the offer. Ngannou added, “There is no doubt that I am going with these people [because] they have the vision and our vision aligns.” He continued to stress the fact that his PFL deal was never about money.

Francis Ngannou hasn’t fought since defeating Ciryl Gane to defend his UFC championship. However, he is not planning to return to the cage just yet. ‘The Predator’ will make his PFL debut in 2024. It is sure that his presence will bring more eyes to the promotion.
