UFC welterweight king Leon Edwards is no stranger to clips of his kicks inside the cage going viral online. However, this time around, ‘Rocky’ has pulled off an incredible feat outside the Octagon that has left the MMA sphere in awe! Set to defend his title against Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 in his home country, Edwards will be making his first appearance since defending his belt against Colby Covington at UFC 296 in December 2023.

However, the extended break from competing wasn’t something that was planned by Edwards. In a recent interview shared by The New York Post, ‘Rocky’ confessed that his initial aim was to have at least 3 fights in 2024. To keep up with his plans, Edwards wanted to be a part of the historic UFC 300 card that was held in April. But the plans had to change as according to the welterweight champion, “I said his name to the UFC. I actually said to the UFC: ‘What about Belal?’ They said he’s not a big enough name to headline UFC 300.”

The two have a history together that dates back to 2021 when they clashed at UFC Vegas 21 in a bout that ended as no contest due to an accidental eye-poke left Muhammad unable to continue. Ahead of this high-stakes rematch with the UFC gold on the line, Edwards has been hard at work training and left UFC color commentator Joe Rogan and the MMA fans online with their jaws on the floor!

In the clip shared by Rogan on his Instagram story, Edwards is out doing his roadwork to prepare for the fight but gets called over by some fans to an outdoor basketball court. ‘Rocky’ then calls for the ball before kicking it straight through the hoop on the other side of the court causing everyone present to lose their minds in shock! He then drops his famous tagline, “Headshot, dead”. The entire clip has caused a wave of reactions from the fandom with some even questioning if the entire video was fake or not. Here’s a look at what the netizens had to say.

Joe Rogan and MMA fans left in disbelief over Leon Edward’s lethal accuracy outside the Octagon

Leon Edward’s video left the fans impressed with his skills in multiple disciplines but being an MMA champion requires a vast knowledge of various martial arts, as such, it’s no surprise that Edwards would excel in any athletic endeavor that he puts his mind to. But according to the fans, the video doesn’t bode well for Belal Muhammad who will be hoping he doesn’t find himself on the receiving end of such a kick at UFC 304!

What’s your perspective on:

Leon Edwards' left kick—best in UFC history or just a lucky shot?

“Footballer, basketball player and UFC champion, Belal is sentenced”

The fans re-iterated that the technique and accuracy on display should cause Muhammad to sit up and take notice and hopefully keep his hands up at all times when he is inside the Octagon with ‘Rocky’

“Ok he’s gonna ko belal now”

Other fans brought up the fact that Kamaru Usman would be too familiar with the speed, power, and accuracy behind the left-kick of Edwards. During their UFC 278 title clash, Edwards landed the kick in the fifth round against Usman, securing one of the best knockout and comeback ever seen inside the UFC and dropping one of the coldest post-fight interview lines ever!

“That left kick is pure gold. Damn!!! Usman knows”

However, some viewers weren’t too sure about the video being ‘real’ as in the past, various viral marketing campaigns have used similar tactics to showcase athletes pulling off ridiculous feats of skill and athleticism. But is Edward’s video also fake? It’s up to the viewer to decide!

“Why does it look fake?”

But other fans were more interested in enjoying the incredible moment in the video as they couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed

“Daaaaaamn that´s fire”

Many were more straightforward in their response as they pointed out that walking over to a basketball court and hitting a ball into the hoop on the volley deserves the “gangster” nod

“That’s some gangster sh*t bro”

Fans also pointed out that Edward’s “aura” has seemingly been growing by leaps and bounds ever since he secured the title and claimed the throne at the top of the 170 lbs. division
