Brazilian ace Gilbert Burns is gearing up for his fight at UFC 287 against Jorge Masvidal in Miami. Both fighters are desperate for a win. But ‘Durinho’ hasn’t forgotten Colby Covington. He is waiting for his chance to get his hands on the former interim welterweight champion.
Gilbert Burns has got mixed results in his last few fights. He has won three of his last five UFC fights and is seeking to grab a victory in his fight against Jorge Masvidal. However, has expressed an interest in fighting the controversial star Colby Covington since both have been in the 170-pound category for a long time.

Gilbert Burns has been calling out Colby Covington for a while
‘Durinho’ and ‘Chaos’ are yet to cross paths inside the octagon. He has been very vocal about wanting to face Covington. He recently spoke to ‘MMA Junkie‘, where he said, “I hope because I’ve been calling this guy [Covington] out forever. He’s been smart. He sits out and fights Tyron Woodley and then relax, and then he fights for the title again.”

Burns has accused Covington of ducking him and fighting fighters who are in the twilight stages of their careers, and working his way into a title shot against Leon Edwards. He added, “He then picks another guy that’s not in his prime coming from another loss, Masvidal. Then he wins and gets another title shot. He’s been smart. I hope that one day we can get this done.”
‘Durinho’ believes he can finish ‘Chaos’
Gilbert Burns has the momentum on his side heading into UFC 287 after earning a submission victory against Neil Magny at UFC 283. He will look to repeat his previous performance on April 9. Moreover, Burns claims that he is confident in his ability to finish Colby Covington. He said, “I believe I can finish Colby.”

‘Durinho’ mentioned that he has leveled up with his striking game. He believes his striking is way more dangerous.
